Television Shows! - csrowan - 01-27-2013

We've already got a thread for movies. This is for TV shows, past or present.

With special thanks to Netflix and other sites for allowing us to watch old shows that we never got a chance to see all the episodes of back to back.

I was going to start watching Frasier, but then I decided I would watch Cheers first, just for the sake of continuity.

Also, if you use Netflix and you like Wallace and Gromit, check out Shaun the Sheep. If you have little ones and have already checked out Shaun the Sheep, check out Timmy Time.

And for DVD enthusiasts, if you get M*A*S*H on DVD, it comes with the option to turn off the laugh track... absolutely amazing. The power it has without the laugh track is phenomenal.

I'm glad laugh tracks are a thing of past. Aren't they?

I vote for Northern Exposure. Too bad it's not on streaming.

I think a lot of the 1/2 hour comedy shows still use laugh tracks.

And... ditto the Northern Exposure sentiment! Thumbs Up

I agree. Maybe our new omnipresent moderator can merge these into one.

Best cheesy adventure shows:

Wild Wild West

Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea

I decided I had been deprived and so had begun watching that during exercise at the Y (thank you Netflix and free WiFi).

The biggest problem, of course, being actually continuing to go to the Y.

Yeah but somehow Star trek was always better that the two GCG mentioned.

Cheesy adventure?.. Lost in space ...and the one where the people were all bigger? Land of the lost?

RE: Television Shows! - tealeaf - 01-27-2013

Land of the Giants

nevermind, that was where the people were small

Star Trek was great. Visionary. But still incredibly cheesy.

Exactly , the special affects of those days were not on par with the writers.

RE: Television Shows! - GoCometsGo - 01-27-2013

I never could watch Star Trek. Wild Wild West was way cool though.

James West scored the better looking dames

Cheers, season 1 episode 4
Quote:Dave: Well, well, what do we have here? Hi. Dave Richards. I'm an old teammate of Sam's.

Diane: Oh! Diane Chambers. I'm Sam's new waitress.

Dave: Sam have his brand on you yet?

Diane: Hardly.

Dave: Good, then you're in for a lucky day. Not only am I incredibly rich, I'm incredibly good looking, and incredibly nice.

Sam: And incredibly married.

[laughter]

Diane: Well, I am sorry to hear that.

Dave: You are?

Diane: Yes. I was hoping to reject you based solely on your personality.
