And I've never listed to radio on music stations...just another quirk I guess, but I've always preferred taped or CD music since it became available. (Yeah, in the "old days" I sometimes listened to radio stations but because I didn't have a car until I was 21 years old, I only listened to what others dialed to)(06-21-2015, 07:45 PM)Cuzz Wrote:(06-21-2015, 04:07 PM)Wonky3 Wrote:(06-21-2015, 07:14 AM)cletus1 Wrote:
Good sounds!
But...
I'll most likely never buy her stuff.
I read somewhere recently (can't remember where) that most of us listen to music that we bought and listened to up to around 36-38 years of age and seldom get excited about other music. For me it's a down home fact.
Pink Floyd was at Britt last night (6/20) but didn't feel up to dealing with the masses of asses. My daughter went: Haven't had a chance to get her feedback yet.
I know you're probably right about "most of us listen to music that we bought and listened to up to around 36-38 years of age and seldom get excited about other music."
The folks I work with can't seem to get beyond the oldies radio station. I don't get it. They're oldies cause you've heard them all about a bazillion times already. Some of them are good but I need new music too or I get bored. Oh well, there are a lot of musicians out there need to make a living. Between both us they each get something.
Is there actually any radio station worth a crap that doesn't play the oldies? 95.7 and 103.5 only have about 42 songs they play.BETWEEN THEM Sometimes I listen to 94.7, they play older country, bluegrass and just some off the wall stuff. Some of it is horrible And the 102.7..( I think?) plays some decent Rock sometimes but too often they play grungy crap that sounds like the speaker on the radio blew out.
I remember listening to the same taped songs over and over every day at work. The only two songs that I could listen too that don't get old.. Midnight train to Georgia and the heart of rock and roll.
Remarkable really, how our tastes vary so much about music. A good thing I guess. Sometimes I listen/watch things posted here and enjoy them, but never enough to go buy them. Another sign I'm now older than a lot of rocks in this valley.
Still...I'm content with the whole thing. I think it's great that others continue to find new sounds they are attracted to and want to add to collections. Music is such a special blessing in our lives. I can tell you younger folks that there will come a time as you get older that books and music will become really important in your lives. Maybe...true in my life at least.
