Lots and lots.

I have family in Hayfork that I visited last month. I think it's safe to say that the local economy revolves around marijuana. Marijuana is king in the area and has replaced the logging industry as the biggest employer.

People from out of the area go there to find work as trimmers every October. The Red Bud Cafe and the Hayfork Hotel are two spots where trimmers meet growers. In fact, we picked up a couple from France that were hitchhiking to a farm in the hills to work as trimmers.

The Trinity Pines area is now famous for weed. The Hmong people that immigrated from Vietnam grow much of the weed. There was some tension between the Hmong and the locals in the beginning, but now they mostly seem to work together in a mutually beneficial way.  Smiling

In 2014 congress cut the funding for legitimate medical marijuana grow raids out of the dea budget but the dea still actively raids them. The siskiyou county sheriff has been using his federal funds, which are supposed to be used to eradicate cartel grows in the national forests, to monitor and raid grows on private land.

Yes, but Williams and the Applegate don't have the density of pot farms that Trinity Pines California  does. The area was like Humbolt County in the 1970s and 80s with some hippies growing weed. When the Hmong started growing there, they started growing on a much larger scale. The locals got annoyed and the animosity between the groups intensified.
