Is this offensive?

Apparently, the local proprietor of Rogue River's Cattleman Saloon wore this outfit last night.  It's causing a bit of divided uproar in social media over it's appropriateness and or offensiveness. It got so  heated it was like the (good?) Old days of MTF, before it imploded. Eventually whatever I was looking at got pulled. It could be being discussed elsewhere that I haven't seen.

Yes it's offensive to me anyway. I can't speak for anyone else.. It certainly doesn't make me laugh. I have to wonder about anyone who thinks it's funny.

More seemed offended than not. But it seemed like the majority of those defending it (not all) were male. It kind of denigrated into a case of the men calling women prudes and uptight.

There is another similar costume on facebook. It's Jared from Subway with a T-shirt that says eat fresh and a kids in the same position as the one in the picture here.
I didn't see anyone man or women who thought it was OK.

Well, why would you want to offend your patrons?  The proprietors wrote a lengthy defense of their poor judgment skills on their website.

Some people want to offend, but then seem surprised when they realize that others really are offended. Just not able to understand other peoples view.  *shrug*

I'm with Tia's logic. I think the dude thought it would be funny. There's no reason for him to purposely offend anyone and many reasons not to offend people.

I agree.  I suppose, for me, it would come down to the type of people that were going to be around.  Children?  Yes, inappropriate and offensive.  School or Church?  Yes, inappropriate and offensive.  A bar?  Pretty much anything goes.

Bar or not it looks like a good way to get punched in the face by someone who was a victim or their child was a victim.

Rut Roh!  Well, they'll  probably last out the storm. There's only 3 establishments in all of RR. People like their dives.  This probably won't hurt their bottom line.

Oh, it's obvious they didn't give a thought to it's being offensive.

Hmmmm, really? what if he was dressed as a Klansman and carrying a black mannequin? I get where there's an anything goes mentality about bars, but I don't know if that lessens the poor judgment and inappropriateness.  It seems like it comes down to view point. If you look at it as victimization of children, it's inappropriate. If it's looking how a priest wearing habits abuse their power, it has some element of humor.

Probably not. I bet most people are saying "he's a great guy and was just trying to be funny etc..." And that may be true. But on the other hand it might not take too many people to boycott the place to do some serious harm. That Yelp site isn't going to help LOL.
