Be a Decent Human Being and Don’t Go Shopping on Thanksgiving

And you like to accuse me of wanting to argue. Yeah I know what the heading was and what the article was about. It was posted by Cletus and the heading and all was written by Jordan Weissman and not Cletus.

So Cletus could have posted it for whatever reason and not necessarily because he agreed with it. For the life of me I don't see why that's debatable.

I really don't like to be vulgar on these pages, but...Holy Shit!  Wink

That's brilliant.
Laughing Brilliant?

I posted an article because I have been reading about this trend, nothing more to it than that. Holy crap!

Yeah I wasn't going to decide you felt one way or another or that you were trying to make a "point" by simply posting what someone else said and not one word of your own. I still don't know what's so hard to understand about that.

We've been sitting in front of the 'puters this morning looking for the best TV deal.  Looking for a 65-70" 4K UHD Smart TV... preferably Samsung.  Seems everyone has them on sale for about $1300-$1400.  Thinking Sears because we've always been happy with their warranty service.  The issue?  The cost of their warranties have skyrocketed!  We bought our 55" at Sears 4 years ago and the warranty was $150 for 3 years.  This one?  They want $500 for 3 years!  Crazy!

Is a warranty really needed for a TV?

Beats me!  The BBQ we bought at Sears (long ago... maybe 8-10 years) the warranty (I think they actually call it a 'protection plan') was well worth the money!  They sent a guy to our house once a year for "preventative maintenance" free.  They replaced parts free.  Our 55" TV we haven't had any issues with though.  I think my biggest concern is that as these TV's get higher tech... there's more to go wrong.

How about Costco?  Extended warranty, good products, and their return policy is excellent.

Awesome idea!  I just looked: http://www.costco.com/Samsung-65%22-Clas...72089.html $1379.99 and their Protection Plan is $89.99!

I utilized your sage advice on surviving and enjoying Thanksgiving, so a restock of the larders is necessary. Smiling

I always end up at best buy, computers, cameras, tablet.. screw the warranties. Most of the time they are unnecessary and a waste of money. So at some point you are eventually ahead of the game and it's cheaper to buy another whatever than the insurance cash you didn't waste on a bunch of items.

I have four flat screen TV's. Living rm, wife's office, bedroom and one in the shop. Only one we bought new. They all seem to be very reliable.. knock on wood.

Costco is only a class 2 shopping rapid. Compare that to Best Buy which is a class 4 or Walmart which is a 5. Now get out there and shop.

I hear that! But don't you think if we approach that right it helps? We KNOW it's going to be a zoo so if we just accept it and mellow out as best we can, it helps a bit.
That, and a couple of ounces of good booze, a toke or two on a fatty, a couple of Klonopin, and some Yoga deep breathing.  Wink

No good answers. We gotta do what we gotta do.
