If you wish to be placed on the auction notification , please provide a stamped self addressed envelope, or email your request to spradlta@jacksoncounty.org for email notification of the list.  I will then place you on the list of people to be notified at the time of the next auction, the list can also be accessed on our website, when available.
 
1.  There is normally only one public auction per year, and the date varies.  The auction is held in the morning at 10:00 am in the courthouse auditorium.
 
2.  The auction is advertised in the Mail Tribune four consecutive week’s before the sale.
 
3.  Registration for the sale takes place from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. the morning of the auction.
 
4.  Properties are offered for sale with a minimum bid specified.  This minimum bid is usually set at approximately 70% of the market value.  They are not sold for the amount of back taxes.
 
5.  Payment in full is required at the time of sale on properties with a closing bid under $10,000.  Properties with a closing bid in excess of $10,000 will have the option of purchasing on a Land Sales Contract. Purchasers are requested to pay by cash, cashier’s check, or money order.  A down payment of 10% or $200 (whichever is greater) can be made, with the remainder of the purchase price or down payment due within five business days.  The down payments are non-refundable, and all purchases are considered final.
