A young Muslim woman in New York who said she was threatened on a subway train by Donald Trump supporters made the story up, according to police.
New York police arrested Yasmin Seweid, 18, on Wednesday and charged her with obstructing governmental administration and filing a false report, according to a statement.

Seweid told police that on Dec. 1 that three drunk white men began shouting, “Trump! Trump!” to her while attempting to snatch the hijab off her head. The story was widely reported and was featured on the front page of the New York Daily News with the headline “Hate and the City.”

New York news media reported Thursday that Seweid made up the story to avoid being punished for staying out past curfew. She appeared in court with a shaved head, which the Daily News said was punishment by her parents for the incident. The Baruch College student faces up to a year in jail for each of the charges.

Quote:Hate Hoax: Student Arrested for Alleged Nazi, Anti-Semitic Graffiti

by John Binder21 Dec 2016Long Island City, NY895

LONG ISLAND CITY, New York – A Nassau Community College student was arrested after allegedly drawing over 100 swastikas on campus since President-Elect Donald Trump’s election, along with anti-Semitic phrases and symbols.
Jasskirat Saini, 20 years-old, was arrested and charged by Nassau Police for the threatening graffiti, telling police his motivation was because he felt mistreated by the Jewish community in his area, according to Long Island News 12.
Saini allegedly wrote “Germany” and “Heil Hitler” across the college campus, accompanied by hundreds of swastikas.
Police told the media Saini used black permanent marker to draw the anti-Semitic messages, which Saini had done allegedly since October, increasingly after Trump’s victory.
“We are deeply saddened that the alleged perpetrator is a student,” Nassau Community College President W. Hubert Keen told News 12. “We will use this unfortunate series of events as an object lesson for our students, faculty and staff.”

Another anti-Muslim hate crime has been debunked, this one in Ann Arbor, Michigan, after a Muslim student’s claim that she was threatened for wearing her Muslim headscarf was discovered to be a hoax.
Police now say a false report was filed by a Muslim University of Michigan student, who told police several weeks ago that a man threatened to light her on fire if she did not remove her hijab as she walked down the street in Ann Arbor. The unidentified student claimed her assailant was a white man, whom she insisted sounded like he was drunk, Fox 2 reported.

School officials issued a “safety alert” to students, and police immediately launched an investigation into her hate crime report.
However, a review of surveillance video from businesses along William and State Streets, the area the woman said the assault took place, provided no evidence of a man matching the description she provided. Even more damning, no evidence was found that even she had been there that day.
This week, Ann Arbor Police Lt. Matthew Lige said there was not enough evidence to substantiate the woman’s claim, and the incident is now being deemed a hoax.
Officials are weighing whether the woman will be charged with filing a false police report. She may also be hit with a felony charge because her report of “ethnic intimidation” is itself a felony.

Growing list of post-election 'hate crimes' turn out to be hoaxes
By Christopher Carbon

Since the election victory of Donald Trump, numerous stories have surfaced about hate crimes allegedly tied to supporters of the businessman or to his rhetoric, some true and many not.

[/url]Although the Southern Poverty Law Center reports that there have been hate crimes since the election, a number of the incidents have been disproven or shown to be hoaxes or ill-timed jokes. Here are some noteworthy ones.
A Muslim teenager from Long Island by the name of Yasmin Seweid told authorities that she was harassed on the subway by men who yelled "Donald Trump!" while trying to remove her hijab. The police said within two weeks that she admitted she was lying because she broke her curfew; she now faces charges of filing and false report.

A Muslim woman in Louisiana claimied that she was attacked and had her hijab ripped off. The Lafayette Police Departmenet said that she "admitted that she fabricated the story about her physical attack as well as the removal of her hijab and wallet by two white males."

A hateful note on a white board at Elon Univeristy in North Carolina that read "Bye Bye Latinos Hasta La Vista" was actually satire written by a Latino student at the school, according to the Elon News Network.

Hateful notes allegedly sent to a North Park University student in Chicago were "fabricated" according to David Parkyn, the university's president. The student said on Nov. 14 she had received messages taped to her door containing harassing language and mentions of Trump.

University of Minnesota student Kathy Mirah Tu alleged that she was accosted by white men and told to "go back to Asia." The University's police department and the Minneapolis Police Department said they had no record of the incident and Tu's Facebook post later disappeared.

A Mississippi man arrested and charged with first degree arson in the burning of an African-American church that was spray-painted with the words "Vote Trump" is a member of the congregation, the church's bishop said.

So what?

This what.
The first two artiicles reported by papers with good reputations. Now, we know that even good papers can be conned and later must retract.
What I don'tr see here is that retraction or any credible source saying this was "fake news"

So, SFlib, "where's the beef"?
