Radio Station Change in GP
#1
Anyone in GP who is a fan of talk radio, KCMD at 99.3 FM on the dial is now broadcasting KMED. The owners of KCMD sold to Bicoastal Media in Medford and they changed the music format to talk.

I am not a fan of the daytime weekday lineup, (rush/hannity/Lars, no thanks) but there is a pretty eclectic mix of shows on the weekends.

Kim commando.. Howard Clark. Garrison Keeler, some lawyer guy. You can actually learn something from some od these shows.

There is some gun show on weekends but WAY too much right wing politics from a guy who IMO isn't very bright.

I've never been a fan of talk radio. I much prefer music so I'm sorry to see another music station being changed to more gum flapping.

I did enjoy kcmd's format before the change, Feel good tunes from the 70s 80s and 90s. They seemed pretty popular, BiCoastal must of made them an offer they couldn't refuse.

I'm curious, did they play local programming or a canned feed? I probably had them on at one time or another cause I often just cruise the dial until I hear something that suits my mood. But I not familiar with them in particular.

Get an mp3 player. put all the music you want to hear on it.

That's just it! I don't want to listen to the same music over and over. I want to hear something new. I want to be surprised by what plays. Oldies are nice sometimes but they're oldies because I've heard them all before.... a lot.

JPR is my favorite station of any market I've lived in because of the musical variety and the local non-repeating programming. But, sometimes I get tired of them too and switch to some metal or something else.

Local programming, it was owned by a previous radio personality from kajo who also owns a local DJ service.

JPR is one of my favorites too. Lately I have been listening to 105.9 FM "The Valley." I was not impressed at first but they have been playing a pretty decent mix of some good older stuff and some new music and music I haven't heard before. Maybe they are taking public input and responding to that. I still find the best music on the internet

I got in to talk radio many years ago when I did a lot of traveling to find work. You know the Reagan era.

Anyway music for hours on end gets old. And I think as I get older I can only listen to so much music. Especially when it's a radio.I don't know how anyone can stand listening to the radio for long since it means you have to listen to a certain amount of crap until a song you like FINALLY comes on. And I would even tire of my own pile of CD's after a while.

My theory was with all that time in a car basically wasted maybe I could learn something. Has anyone here ever heard of Bruce Williams? I think he was from San Francisco.

Thanks Cletus. I'll try that station. Hopefully they broadcast with enough power. I know some just don't.

Well if you don't have your own collection of CDs to rip, I found lots of free MP3 files on line, also you can rip the audio out of any you tube tracks.

I tried to download YouTube videos a couple of years ago and I finally gave up. So I can save the music?

I found 1-click down loader (firefox) worked well.
I found a lot at mp3bear.
stuff would come and go.

also I just drop a music CD in to the computer and rip it to MP3 in no time at all.

Or you could use a smart phone and blue tooth into the car stereo. Big Grin
