In the interest of maintaining a pleasant environment for all forum members, we have established the following site-wide rules for posting. The site Terms of Service, which are posted in a link at the bottom of this page, also detail other rules and regulations to which you must agree to in order to use this site.
Additionally, sub-forums may have their own rules which apply in addition to these site-wide rules. These will be linked to in both the sub-forum itself as well as in a banner above the "new post" text box (when applicable).
Fellowship
- Most importantly, please maintain an overall good fellowship/camaraderie with your fellow forum members; do not be consistently unpleasant towards other forum members and do not excessively or persistently attack other members.
- Do not post obscene, vulgar, sexually oriented, hateful, threatening, and otherwise illegal materials and links. This includes but is not necessarily limited to:
- nudity
- shock photographs and sites
- slanderous and libelous material
- copyrighted material and trade secrets
- hate speech and slurs directed toward any gender, race, sexual orientation, nationality, and religion
Spam, viruses, and disruptive content
- Do not post links to sites for the sole purpose of advertising a business or product other than in forums where explicitly permitted.
- Do not post links to sites which contain viruses, worms, scripts, or other code which can be harmful to visitor's computer.
- Do not post disruptive material such as images or text formatted to disrupt the flow of the topic or website, oversize images used for the purpose of slowing page load times, and posting patent nonsense or multiple topics solely for the purpose of burying other content.
Harassment
- Do not post personally identifying information, including but not limited to names, addresses, telephone numbers, and photographs, in a way which links the personal information to the identify of another forum member.
- Do not use the site to harass, threaten, or coordinate harassment of another person, group, event, or website, including but not limited to posting personally identifying information of private citizens, coordinating forum takeovers, and coordinating mass contact via email, telephone, or text message.
- Do not re-post the contents of private correspondence such as PM's, IM's, or emails to the forum without the consent of the sender. Doing so violates both the privacy and intellectual property rights of the sender.
Legal Threats
- Do not use the site to post threats of litigation. Rule violations may be reported by members via the "Report Post" feature; non-members may use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of any page. Copyright violations require that a DMCA-compliant notification be filed; please view our Site Contact Information for details.
- Do not threaten litigation upon the administration or moderators of the site or the site's web hosts and service providers. Pursuant to 47 USC § 230, this site is a provider of an interactive computer service. Reported cases of violation of this site's standards of acceptable use are documented, investigated, and may be acted upon; however, legal threats are cause for immediate termination of any and all accounts you have at the site.
Multiple Accounts, Proxy Access, and Ban Evasion
- Do not create multiple accounts for the purpose of deceit or swaying an argument (sockpuppetry). Use of an alternate account in order to maintain one's privacy or to facilitate a "fresh start" on the site is acceptable.
- Upon registration, we may scan the registrant's originating IP address to determine if the request is coming from an open proxy server host. To prevent abuse, access to this site from hosts which are running open proxy server software is forbidden.
- Do not create an additional account as a means to evade a site ban. Doing so is grounds for an immediate permanent ban on any and all attached accounts, past present, and future.
Etiquette
- Posting in ALL CAPS is frowned upon, while using proper punctuation and sentence structure is encouraged. Writing in one large run-on sentence or 6 page long paragraph makes for a difficult read, and will often cause your contributions to be overlooked.
- Ensure your signature and all images in it are kept to a reasonable size and aren't terribly distracting. There are no hard limits, but if it's overly long or disruptive, you will be asked to change it. In extreme cases -- generally due to abuse of animated GIFs or very disruptive patterns -- we might change it for you.
- Don't abuse the "Edit Post" feature; this includes editing your text to maliciously change the context of your post, posting something of a controversial nature with the intent of editing it out later, etc.
Thank you, and enjoy!
