Have you ever heard, that storing a battery on cement will kill the battery?
My mother in law tells me, to put a board under the battery.

Yes I've heard it from people all my life. I even believed it many years ago. I had a friend who would find a piece of wood and put it under my batteries if they were on the concrete  . LOL. The logic is that concrete is a good conductor and therefore somehow drain the battery.
I asked him why the batteries don't drain when they are on an even better conductor?.. the steel in your car.

Of course he didn't have an answer. I read somewhere that WAY back when batteries were first made they used some thing other than plastic.. And that type of material actually did conduct some electricity therefor putting a battery on the ground did indeed drain a battery.

I heard they made the batteries in a wooden box. There was some issue with moisture from cement effecting the wood. (I googled it years ago, when she told me that)

"batteries in a wooden box".Um , let me think. OK.... NO! Razz

Car batteries used to be encased in hard rubber, a substance that was porous enough that battery acid could seep through it and create a conductive path through the damp concrete, draining the battery. The cases of today’s batteries, however, are made of sturdier stuff that far better contains their contents than those of yesteryear. As well, time has brought technological improvements to the seals around the posts and the vent systems.

These days, the problem of car battery electrolyte seepage and migration has been all but eliminated. Says battery manufacturer Yuasa, “Nowadays, containers are made from a solid plastic that does not allow any current to flow through it, so the batteries do not discharge, even if they sit in a few inches of water.”

Nothing about CL, but the talk of batteries reminds me of a George Harrison interview when he said that when he was still a teen he went hitchhiking with Paul McCartney. They got picked up by a truck driver. But there was no passenger seat, so, Harrison sat on the wheel well, and McCartney sat on the battery. But the metal zipper in his back jeans pockets made a connection between the two poles and burned a zipper mark into his ass.

Who wears jeans with zipper back pockets?
They must have really been greasers back then.

Thanks, I didn't want to go find that again. I knew it didn't apply anymore.

Quote:However, this legend is historically based in fact. The first lead-acid batteries consisted of glass cells that were enclosed in tar-lined wooden boxes. A damp concrete floor could cause the wood to swell, breaking the glass inside

Sorry, this is not funny, just questions.

1. When posting an ad, is the title more important than what category you place it in?

2. Is it better to put it in the "General" category if it doesn't quite fit completely in its own? For instance, should a item that can be used by a business be put "Business" or "General?"

Thanks....

You are not supposed to, people do. You may get away with it or you may end up flagged for excessive postings, considered spam if you post the same item in multiple categories. And yes, folks like TV and I will flag you.

I always choose one category that best fits. If I get no interest after a certain amount of time I will delete and repost in a different category, assuming the category still somewhat fits, which is typically "general".

GP is right on all counts.   should a item that can be used by a business be put "Business" or "General?"

If you are a service or a business then you are not supposed to post under " FOR SALE BY OWNER" but there's no reason you can't sell "an item that can be used by a business" under owner.
A lot of people post in two categories and get away with it.

Can I post my ad on more than one craigslist site?

Please choose just ONE local craigslist site for which your ad is most relevant—generally the site closest to you. If your ad is equally relevant to all locations, your ad does not belong on craigslist. Please find another service. Posting the same ad to multiple locations on craigslist is prohibited.

Where can I advertise my services/business on craigslist?

Only in the "services offered" categories please.

Opening a Nude club in Medford Or. - $100 (Medford/Central Point)

go--fund--me(dot)com/nude-club-in-Medford

Hey Guys, So I discovered a loophole allowing a nude club to be easily and cheaply opened for business within Jackson County. I have spent several years doing the research on this and have heard the same thing over and over again; Yes, I discovered a loophole allowing a new nude club to be opened very very cheaply within Jackson County.

I've been scouting some spots and found an excellent place perfectly fit for what we want to do in White City, close to the VA and just an excellent local for this idea.

I've hit a brick wall and am just about out of funding. I have however set up an LLC and am ready to acquire the business license.

I'm looking for a few small investors who want to help see a project like this get off the ground.

I'm looking for a some talented low level investors who want to get in on the ground floor of the Rogue Valleys Newest and Hottest Nude Female Dance Club.

I already have a couple of Medfords Sexiest Ladies lined up saying "Yeah they'll do it.." like I said its not a "strip club" its very tasteful and very funny business plan once you learn what this loophole is.

-----
We will offer a lifetime membership and lifetime free door entry to the first 100 people to donate over 100 dollars on our go fund me page

So guys, long story short, this could be the best $100 you've ever spent!! Lets make this happen!!

Kind of a side issue but......  There are NO alcohol sales within a specified distance from the VA.  Just sayin'..... A strip club with no booze?

I think the closest place the folks from the DOM can go get a beer is Lings or Bobbios.

It is an art class.

RE: Craigslist funny stuff - tvguy - 04-07-2017

I wonder if anyone else has noticed something. We have Direct TV. When we watch listen to movies on regular cables channels.. the ones in the 200's.
The sound is just fine. But when we watch movies on the 500 channels which is HBO showtime and other premiere channels.
The sound is different. It's a lot harder to understand someone who is talking. It's like too much base or whatever.
We noticed this on our old TV so we bought a sound bar, Now we have a brand new TV and without the using the sound bar it's still the same.
And when we use the sound bar we STILL have to turn it WAY up if we ever want to understand Captain Flynn or Long John silver.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Anyway this ad made me think of this....

I am in agreement! Some channels I heard fine as well.  I was just letting you know how I solved it.  It really worked for me on those channels that I had to turn up for dialogue.  Another telltale sign is when it seems like women and children are mumbling.
