TVGuy:  OK but why would you believe that? What could possibly make you think this in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary?

One of us is certainly delusional.

Like I said you are playing. There no way in hell you at that point that you didn't know that I was talking about CLIMATE CHANGE as in Global Warming.

You posted that comment of yours in bold and OUT OF CONTEXT.

You made that comment in response to this remark from me.......
IMO your question asking about what we can to prevent the sun from doing what is does ... Leads me to believe you don't believe climate change is caused by humans and green house gases.

with your comment... "I believe the climate changes as a natural progression of the planet."

Any normal person would take that response to what I just said as someone DENYING Global warming.

Yeah you are playing and being dishonest or you just can't keep up. Drug use prescription or otherwise I don't know but you sir are all over the place.

You leave out everything else I followed it with.  I NEVER denied a role for MAN in the change of the climate.

You took the first sentence of a much longer answer to your question, and declared it the sum and total of my answer.  You sir, are being dishonest.

One thing is for certain.  You DON'T know me, or you never would have posted something as ludicrous as an accusation of drug use against me. Laughing

Re read my FULL answer, and maybe (unlikely, given your MO) you would apologize.

I'm not going to apologize to you. You play. You act or you are obtuse. You toy around and pretend you don't understand and that I don't see your point which is evasive at best.
I don't think it's possible for anyone to skate around what they are saying and never commit to anything as well as you do.

No shit.. I don't know you but from where I sit you being on some kind of drug seems very possible.

It wasn't "Record Breaking" but the wind blew at at my house in East Medford today.

Blew the leaves (why not leaf's?) right off the roof and onto the lawn.

Tomorrow I'm going to pray to The Lord to have the wind blow them over to TVG's yard.

Pray works! "Sing along...For his eye is on the sparrow and he watches over me". (You did good!)

Then I'm going to pray for world peace. Why not?

Faith can move mountains. But put your money on eons and plate tectonics to do it better...just takes a bit longer. Hold it: That plate tectonics thing is just a left wing bunch of garbage to make us believe the earth is more than 6,000 year old. Forget I mentioned it. Science is left wing crap.

In the meantime, weather will be breaking records someplace, TV'g's yard is going to be ass deep in leaves, and I'll be praying for you. (On the days I can't, Clete will take over). HEY! We care. Open a can of Coke and sing "We Are The World".

And don't bunch up in groups. There is a new wind blowing, and it's breaking records. And don't count on prayer.

Quote:As the Earth moved out of ice ages over the past million years, the global temperature rose a total of 4 to 7 degrees Celsius over about 5,000 years. In the past century alone, the temperature has climbed 0.7 degrees Celsius, roughly ten times faster than the average rate of ice-age-recovery warming.

Come on all you libs, if you truly believe you are causing this great planet to die, take one for the planet. Do it for humanity's sake, if we could get just 40-60% of you guys to kill yourselves think of how much better off we would be as a world. If you wouldn't do it for your kids and grandkids at least do it for the planet. Just think of all the misery you won't have anymore, no more worries about the planet, no more worries about if people don't like muslims, no more worries of if you weren't successful in killing Christianity, no more white guilt (that's a biggie for you guys too), no more worries about how much free stuff you can get off of the rich, no more worries about gun control and the constitution, the list is endless as to just how much misery you could free yourselves from.

Not one death by climate change, muslims otoh are kicking climate changes' ass when it comes to killing people.

Well, maybe...

Right now, Chennai—India’s fourth-largest city with a metro area the size of Chicago—is paralyzed. Flooding from record rainfall—the heaviest in more than a hundred years—has cut off more than 3 million people from basic services for days. At least 270 people have died, and what’s happening should provide a cautionary tale to the world: Chennai is a new type of “natural” disaster, a preview of the Anthropocene, the idea that humans have become a geological-scale force of nature.

November was Chennai’s rainiest calendar month in history: An unimaginable 47 inches fell. Then, this week, things got worse. Wednesday’s rains brought an additional 11 inches—34 times the normal amount. More rain is expected in the coming days, linked to an enhanced northeast monsoon boosted by a record-strong El Niño in the Pacific Ocean and the record-warm Indian Ocean.

Interesting that this thread, like most, has turned political. People that think man made global warming is no big deal are almost always far right Republicans. So here are a few questions: Why do politics influence what you choose to believe about global warming? It should be science that determines your view on the issue, right? And how the hell does someone living on this planet become anti environment?

Why are most conservatives, especially religious conservatives dismissive of efforts to protect the environment? I kind of understand why religious folks don't believe global warming is a problem. These religious believers have fantastic ideas about the nature of the universe and have become accustom to believing what they want and facts just don't matter to them.

Anyone else care to speculate as to why Republicans don't give a shit about global warming?

Because, environmental protection laws, have always been demonized by those who want to exploit.

Money before people.

RE: Record Breaking Weather - chuck white - 12-05-2015

If we really, really wanted to do something about CO2.
We would be building thorium-salt reactors all across the country.
(We have the technology, we just lack leadership)

We could create hydrogen from a great surplus of electricity.

Hydrogen with CO2 can be used to make hydrocarbons...

CO2 will be in great demand.

Of course, but you can say Carbon dioxide is causing global warming and global warming is a problem and still drive your Humvee. Still, I agree it's about more money for big companies and I guess just stupidity from the peasants on the right. I suppose denial works best if you want to fish the sea clean and cut down almost every tree.

Not just driving a car. Eating beef is also a big contributor to global warming.
