Looks like 2017,  will break the record for, number of Category 4 hurricanes (or greater) in a season.

The current record is one, so it could easily double the record.

A wonderful season and even the metaphor is graceful and helpful in accepting the cycle that must continue.

Well, by the 1400's they no longer believed you could "fall off" the edge of the world.
However, on maps that extended beyond what they could even imagine, they wrote "Here, be dragons". 
...and we are still living with superstitions.
