And it's through attrition, not addition. If a man sleeps with a woman and later she dies, you mean like it never occurred? And "if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it..." Or "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" I would suggest it's as simple as a line for a Leigh Hunt poem: "Time, you thief, put that in..." No heavy lifting required. Re: Music - illcommandante - 02-15-2011 When Hank Williams died, we were visiting in Roseburg. People just stood out in the street. Some shaking their heads. Some just staring. Macon and I were crying. Re: Music - bbqboy - 02-15-2011 Re: Music - Tia - 02-15-2011 Johnny Cash and Nick Cave! Wow. Re: Music - Tia - 02-15-2011 Re: Music - Wonky - 02-15-2011 bbqboy Wrote: Thanks Barbie, for posting that. Simple, touching, poignant, and valuable. Re: Music - Wonky - 02-15-2011 Tia Wrote: Kind of interesting but very disturbing. I never want to be in "daddy's arms" or riding the sea. Very, very dark. Re: Music - Tia - 02-15-2011 It's the song, Wonky. As for the video... It is dark. There are lighter ones. Not less disturbing. I love the song. I just like to listen to the song. The videos are just a trip. It was a pretty backwoods place back then: I'm not sure this is the right version, but it's the closest I could find: and of course: Re: Music - tvguy - 02-25-2011 PonderThis Wrote:For some reason today I was thinking of the very earliest songs I remember ever hearing on a.m. radio growing up in Medford in the early '50's (other than church music of course), from 1954 I might guess. His parents might of listened to it later then that. Maybe in the 1960's... He might not of meant when the songs came out exactly. I am just thinking that maybe that's the case but not sure. I don't know why I do. My parents moved frequently (I lived in at least 12 houses growing up) so I can pretty well date things from what house we were living in at the time. I would say, yes, I was about 2 years old when I remember these songs being played. I don't remember much else from that era, actually. But I do know there were two other houses between then and first grade, so I'm pretty close on the date. Re: Music - bbqboy - 02-25-2011 so you were beaten as a child, TV? Re: Music - illcommandante - 02-25-2011 In 1959 I was going public on pot out at Lindy's. Singing the crap they played over the airwaves of Roseburg "When I'm riding in the saddle, there's music in the air, because I keep my radio tuned to KRNR" (And, they picked the worst). But then, I built a crystal radio kit and found "Cloud Seven" in Fresno. I left Roseburg when I was fourteen. They just didn't notice. Re: Music - bbqboy - 02-25-2011 WLS Chicago the mighty 890 for me after 10 pm, because walt bodine's nightbeat came on then on WHB (the world's happiest broadcasters) http://worldshappiestbroadcasters.com in KC sometimes KOMA from Oklahoma City, and very rarely the X station from Laredo Neuevo Re: Music - PonderThis - 02-25-2011 About that era I was listening to my crystal radio set under the covers, since my bedtime was still 8:00. I didn't usually get caught. Re: Music - illcommandante - 02-25-2011 I used to lay awake with the headphones on, pushing the selector back and forth in the dark. And then, sleep all day in class.
