Actually, from Ellensburg... of all places.

Leonard Cohen is an incredible poet. I love those lyrics. His voice however would have made me crawl under the bed and shiver as a kid. Big Grin

The man sounds like a gravel truck stuck in 1st gear. I love his stuff!

"Way Down In The Hole" was the theme for "The Wire". If you haven't seen it, you might want to have a look IMO one of the best things on TV in years.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not familiar with "The Wire". Thanks too for posting the Cohen vid. I enjoyed it.

"The Wire" is available from Netflix but only on DVD, not streaming.

Sorry, Embarrassed one more. Well, she's 2 FGS!

From one of my favorite albums of ALL time (yes, it was an album). I love that harmonica. Alas, they never got the attention they deserved.

Cuzz, I'm a fan of the "mouth harp" too. That's a good album! (Was not familiar with the group)

I confess to enjoying County Harp and if you have not heard Charlie McCoy or Mickey Raphael I'd encourage you to give them a try. Yeah, I know, it's country. Sad
The following is Charlie McCoy. Mickey Raphael is on most Wille Nelson's stuff.

Sorry, I can't help it, one more from Zephyr 'Sunset Ride' (1972).

Well...
Had to look 'em up. What I didn't know was that Candy Givens played the harp in that band! Talented lady, but the 70's was a competitive time for hippy bands with good looking' ladies with long legs and hair down to their butts.

Yep, one the best harmonica players I've ever heard.

It doesn't really show in the two songs I've posted here but, Ms. Givens had a set of pipes that would give Grace Slick or Janis Joplin a run for their money. I think they just never got the exposure they needed to hit the bigs. I'm glad their music is available again. I've been looking for years for a reissue of their stuff. MP3's will have to do.
