I need to find Mississippi burning and watch it again. It's been so long I don't remember much of it.

My cousin Vinny is a classic for sure.

I thought Mississippi Burning was really well done. A few laughs, but mostly a tragic and dark story of a period in our country that hopefully is in the past.

Joe Pesci will most likely be remembered for Goodfellas, but he had some lines in "Vinny" that were classic. To the judge describing the two young guys. "The two youts".  Laughing

Bye the by, Pesci had a small part in a film with Matt Damon I really liked titled The Good Shepherd. Pepsi's small part alone made the movie worth watching. The movie didn't get a lot of attention, is a bit slow, but Matt Damon did one hell of a fine job in a part that was not all that "meaty". And, a good history lesson of the CIA.

Funny thing about Midnight Cowboy. The other day, outside of Barnes and Nobles I saw a 13 year old walk in front of his Mom's car and do that: "I'm walking here!" I wondered, if he even had a clue where that gesture and quote was from to be part of every day vernacular.

Did he say it with  New York accent? Big Grin

BTW I have told my 19 year old grandson where  lot's of phrases came from when he had no clue.

"I'm shakin it boss" comes to mind. I can't remember them all now.

I'm sure a lot of the folks of the younger persuasion recognize its vernacular but think it originated from Back to the Future part 2.

I think you mean the kids heard it first on back to the future and it "originated" from Midnight cowboy.

I was trying to say the kids would think it originated from back to the future with no idea as to its true origin.

RE: Movie/TV Clips - Hugo - 03-08-2017

Great movie.  Probably beyond most of your comprehension though.

RE: Movie/TV Clips - Hugo - 03-08-2017

For Wonky:  The "book" was called "Twinkle Twinkle, Killer Kane" by William Peter Blatty.

You might want to rethink why you would actually say or think that.

Think about it while considering that most crazy people think they aren't and everyone else is.

Or with using simple logic, why would it be true that most of us don't have the comprehension ability you have?

Laughing  You're a thin skinned little prick with no sense of humor.

Well Hugo, you typed: "Great movie.  Probably beyond most of your comprehension though." On the page.

First things first. It's a lousy sentence. You might have said, "This is a great movie but it is probably beyond the comprehension of most of you here".

More to the point, expressing thoughts, feelings, humor, and other emotions on the printed page is so very different from verbal conversation while sitting at the bar sharing a beer. I'll take your word for it that you intended to express humor when you posted that. Please take my word for it that it was not in any way obvious. The sentence on the page looked for all the world like a sarcastic put-down.

Your'e a bright guy. I wonder if a couple of more seconds of reflection might have given you pause and that you may have worded the sentence differently. I hope so.

But who am I to criticize? All too often when posting here I fail to "measure twice, cut once".

PS: Blatty also wrote The Exorcist, another horror story that didn't attract my attention. To each his own, because I know lots of folks see art in this kind of stuff.

Blah blah blah, blablabla, bla blah.

PS:  The Ninth Configuration is not a horror movie, like the Exorcist.
