I was wondering how old my water heater was - tvguy - 01-21-2022

So I remember a long time ago I insulated my water heater from top to bottom with 3 in thick blue  Styrofoam I picked up from a job for free.
I was wondering how long I had this water heater. Anyway I remember talking about it here because good ole Oregunluver was telling me all about how I should not insulate the WH because it would  damage or burn up the wiring. Laughing
And he didn't even care that he was talking to a journeyman electrician Laughing Laughing
Anyway this place has info stored Because I found the post and the date so now I know my WH is more than 12 years old Big Grin Big Grin And still working perfectly.

LOL, I guess those water heater insulation blankets you can readily purchase are secretly burning up water heater wiring all across the land. Or is it all conspiracy initiated by big water heater trying to burn up water heaters faster.

Laughing Laughing Laughing   I would like to know in what world does insulation INCREASE the temperature of a water heater?
If that was true we could defy the laws of physics and create heat out of nothing.
