You are going to have to do some gardening as far as weeding and stuff aren't you? Yeah and mittens are even worse. You are going to have to do some gardening as far as weeding and stuff aren't you? Even though I probably would benefit from gloves, whenever I wear them, I end up yanking them off. I just can't figure out what I'm doing if I can't feel it. RE: What's in your garden? - tvguy - 05-03-2013 RE: What's in your garden? - cletus1 - 05-03-2013 Beau Ti ful TVguy. I am waiting to share my sprouts. RE: What's in your garden? - tvguy - 05-03-2013 (05-03-2013, 07:13 PM)cletus1 Wrote: Beau Ti ful TVguy.Awe schucks Quote: I am waiting to share my sprouts. Hey Tia, here's one way to grow carrots.. Plus that wheel barrow in the other picture is full of carrots I have three wheel barrows so why not. I'll need to select a short type of carrot because some of the planters are only 6 inches deep.(05-03-2013, 07:13 PM)cletus1 Wrote: Beau Ti ful TVguy.Awe schucks RE: What's in your garden? - Tiamat - 05-04-2013 I sowed those carrot seeds last Sunday. I've watered it faithfully each day, since in the past I think I've let the soil dry out. Still no sprouts. RE: What's in your garden? - Tiamat - 05-12-2013 I think I have carrot sprouts! Also this weekend planted bush beans, zuchinni, cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers. The broccoli has not taken off nor the cabbage. The lettuce is doing ok, not as great as some years. This year I did not do peas. RE: What's in your garden? - imaham - 05-12-2013 I think I have mentioned before that it is very hard to have any kind of a garden here as we have been taken over by squirrels, gophers and bunnies. So, I have to grow most of my stuff in pots. The fuschia(s) I got when my Aunt passed away back in 2004. The top plant is the original and the bottom one came up from seed from it. The next picture is a pomegranate that I rescued from a nursery that they were going to throw out. It was in a one gallon pot and is now about 3 years old. The next picture shows some geraniums that I brought home in 2006 when my mother passed away. I have taken cuttings from the original plants and brought them on in their own pots. The next picture is of two lilacs I got a couple of years ago in 4" pots. They haven't bloomed yet but hope for that. Next are my tomatoes that I have growing in "Earth Boxes" and the two in the orange pots are cherry tomatoes. Last year the tomatoes ripened late and the squirrels got all of them. Hoping to deny them this year with some protective mesh. Last is a Honeysuckle that I left in a 1 gallon pot that took off this year and has intentions of taking over my fence! RE: What's in your garden? - Tiamat - 05-12-2013 Fuschias! The plant of Santa Cruz County! If it isn't, it should be. It grows wild everywhere, in so many different forms. I miss that. RE: What's in your garden? - imaham - 05-13-2013 The mother plant was born and raised in Richmond but I think it likes it here better. My guess is that it is at least 10 to 15 years old. The daughter plant sprouted in another pot that was next to the mother plant about 4 years ago. Amazing how hardy they are when they don't get a lot of cold weather. Amazing how hardy they are when they don't get a lot of cold weather. They like that coastal climate. Like weeds. RE: What's in your garden? - Scrapper - 05-19-2013 One blooms and a dozen more are on the way! They just keep coming... and the smell is just awesome! I am amazed at how good the pics come out using my cell phones macro setting! Gorgeous! RE: What's in your garden? - Scar - 05-19-2013 Weeds. Weeds and ants. I got a few yards of compost this year, maybe the weeds were included. The ants, just moved in I suppose. RE: What's in your garden? - tvguy - 05-21-2013 I built a deluxe swallow hotel a few years back on a tall metal pole. Every year the swallows start to nest there but never do. Instead I get sparrows. So I tied a gourd with a hole in it to a stick, nailed it to a fence post and what do you know. Mom and dad had a baby RE: What's in your garden? - cletus1 - 05-21-2013 Great photos TV. RE: What's in your garden? - tvguy - 05-21-2013 (05-21-2013, 08:57 AM)cletus1 Wrote: Great photos TV. Thanks. I really wanted some picks of mom ,dad and the baby but it's hard to get them all at a once. I took some good pictures but I had forgotten to put the memory card back in my camera and for some reason I can't retrieve the pictures from my cameras internal memory. I sprained a muscle in my back, the wife gave me a pain pill so I could motivate so I went out and blew out my knee. Now my back still hurts and one knee is almost twice the size of the other. So anyway I might hobble out to the garden and sit in a chair and try to get some more pics. This little guy landed on the fence while I was waiting for the swallows.... RE: What's in your garden? - Scar - 05-26-2013 First blooms here....my luck with gardening has never been great but I enjoy it.....alot RE: What's in your garden? - chuck white - 05-26-2013 Dude, your plant is growing sideways. Hey TVguy, remember how you said that I should get a hobby (other than poking fun of religion) well its bird watching. I just watched the movie The Big Year with Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson and I am totally inspired. The wife got me binoculars for Christmas last year and I seldom use them, but that will change. If I get good at it I'll start taking photos. I also travel so expect to see some exotic non local bird photos. I don't plan to travel around the world looking for birds like the characters in the movie, but I am getting a bird book and seeing how many I can identify. I took this photo of these yellow birds in Hawaii this year. [img][/img] |
