I didn't have to buy it, the government gave it to me. Some kind of stimulate grant or whatever. Boy Cleter I hope you are getting lots of free Chinese food? Re: What's in your garden? - cletus1 - 08-12-2009 tvguy Wrote:Boy Cleter I hope you are getting lots of free Chinese food?Indeed, I can say that I am receiving many offers of Chinese, Thai, Japanese, and Indian food whenever I visit my new friends. I also sold a bunch to the Asian food store by Winco. I give a lot to Saint Vincent's, but eggplants are not what their clientele prefer , although they did make a big batch of eggplant Parmesan last week. Re: What's in your garden? - Tia - 08-13-2009 You've got a case of runaway Egglplant, Cletus. I actually don't care for eggplant myself. Except for a good Baba Ganouj. I haven't had that in YEARS! Re: What's in your garden? - siskiyou - 08-13-2009 I have giant eggplants without one single friggin fruit! WTF??? Does anyone have a good salsa recipe that isn't too spicy? Don't need turtle food. Just give 'em some of your rice and beans. Re: What's in your garden? - Tia - 08-13-2009 I think that is an old Amanda post. Re: What's in your garden? - Tia - 08-14-2009 siskiyou Wrote:I have giant eggplants without one single friggin fruit! WTF??? The trick is to seed and devein the peppers if you use them. I like spicy salsa, but if you cut whatever peppers you are using and seed and devein them before chopping, you'll get a pepper flavor and not the hot. All the capsicum is in the seeds and veins. Re: What's in your garden? - tagalong - 08-16-2009 I have a question for all you gardeners. Can I use mulched up very fine Madrone leaves in and around my flower and veggie garden area ? I have so very many, that I have ran over repeated times with the lawn mower and seems such a waste to haul out to the burn piles or just spread out in the woods. I've read they have aelelopathis poison like the Black Walnut leaves, but grasses have grown under a big Madrone that was in my back yard, till it became unsafe and we cut it down. Why don't you just try it and watch to see if anything bad happens, somehow I think it won't I looked up Allelopathy and yes black walnut leaves could have an adverse reaction to other plats but i didn't see much about Madrones. The only thing I read about madrone/laurel is the leaves are rreally oily so it takes them a very long time to decompose. I have tried a few in some spots along a fence line and saw no major problems. I do have a out of the way mixed flower garden, that I can pile a good layer on to wait and see. Mainly I am trying to save on watering. Swear the older I get the longer to water more often or maybe just the hot spells we've been having. Re: What's in your garden? - cletus1 - 08-22-2009 Okra, New Orleans, and Catholics or how to make Holy Gumbo. First the evidence: I'm just proud of that cantaloupe it is sweet and delicious. Re: What's in your garden? - Cometmom - 08-22-2009 Did anyone plant chocolate cherry tomatoes? My plant has tons but they aren't ripening very fast and it's hard to tell when they are ripe because they have a brown tinge. They are quite tasty and I think I will try them again next year. Wow, they sound great! Next year, do I ask for "chocolate cherry" or are they know by some Latin name?
