Firefighters in Oregon rescue a drunk driver after he crashed through a guardrail on a motorway bridge, leaving him and his vehicle dangling over a busy road below. Matthew Alan Hamilton had been hanging for nearly an hour when he was eventually removed from the truck. The 38-year-old is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries and has been arrested for drink driving

If I was him, I'd say once I realized my predicament, I opened the bottle and started guzzling. Of course after an hour it was starting to show its effects, your honor.

If I were him, this whole thing wouldn't have happened.

I hope he spends a long time in jail, and he has to pay (not his insurance) for the expense of his "rescue" and any damage done to the roadway rail. Also his friend needs to be held responsible for letting a drunk person leave their house driving. This was something that was so very avoidable.

I doubt he had insurance, the article says he was driving with a suspended license. (previous DUI?)
I'm glad he didn't hurt anyone else and hope he wises up THIS time.

They should have left him there until he sobered up. That might have been a lasting memory.
When people are drunk they don't recall how stupid they were. One form of therapy is to video tape a drunk and show him how stupid he was later, when he's sober.

Perhaps a little jail time is in order.
