Data from the National Weather Service said the Roseburg Regional Airport measured .92 inches of rain between 12:00 a.m. Monday and 12:00 a.m. Tuesday. That beat the old record for the date which was .55 inches set in 1972. Between Sunday and Monday Roseburg had 1.98 inches of rain which was also a record amount.
Medford also set a record on Monday with .82 inches reported in the same time period. That doubled the previous record of .41 inches, set in 1995.

Pffffft, is that all??!

Grants Pass has had 3.98 inches of rain since 7 a.m.Friday 4/5/19

They have not let as much water out of lost creek reservoir sine the 1997 flood. And if it keeps raining they will have to let even more out.
We could be in serious trouble. The dam when full may as well not even be there and it's at 98% full right now Surprised . And it's damn close to being full  PI Razz

I heard that as well, about the reservoir releasing as much as 97. Hopefully the continuing showers will be sporadic enough that the reservoir wont fill beyond their means to release.

Yep, hopefully.   The corps have to guess when they start allowing the lake to fill and how much. I think they do the best they can.
I have had a conversation with a guy on FB who is bashing them. But basically according to typical FBers no one ever does ANYTHING right. EVERY gov branch is corrupt or stupid or mismanaged. Rolling Eyes

Quote:You might have heard about the exceptional heat this year in the northern hemisphere and around the world. March was just declared the second warmest on record globally

Records have been shattered in Alaska. Scotland hit 70 degrees in February. Winter warmth has torched the U.K., Netherlands and Sweden as well — coming on the heels of Europe’s warmest year on record.

The previous record for May 16 was 93, set in 1944 and 1939.
Another warm day is on tap Friday with highs approaching 90 in Omaha, but the cold front that has been the spark for these storms is dropping south.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Thursday that last month was the hottest May in Florida in more than a century.
The Palm Beach Post reports that last month’s average temperature of 78.8 degrees Fahrenheit was 3.7 degrees hotter than normal.
That temperature earned it the top spot in May for Florida since records started being kept in 1895.

You "work" with Celsius? Doing what I might ask?

One summer my apprentice and I were eating our lunch while we sat in the shade at a bank we were working at.
I said lets go over and eat lunch at the bank across the street. He said why? I said because it's 4 degrees cooler over there.
Then I pointed out the signs. Both banks had the temperature posted on their sign. One was 106 and the other was 102 Razz

Quote: scientists say July will likely be the hottest July on record, following the hottest June on record. These types of heatwaves are expected to become more frequent throughout the world as global warming continues, say scientists.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reports the average global temperature for June was 1.71 degrees Fahrenheit above the 20th century average of 59.9 degrees. NOAA also reported record-breaking decreases in sea ice coverage in the Arctic and Antarctica.
