What I found was yes, they are on the high end of the cost spectrum. I am potentially going to save in the neighborhood of $500/yr if I switch to Safeco. So, is anyone here a happy Safeco customer? Any pro/con reviews to share?
If not Safeco, what company are you with? Maybe I will call them for a quote.
My sister is a Safeco agent. We have home owners insurance with her at $530 a year. But my wife and I have Geico auto insurance because it was a bit cheaper than Safeco.
Have you ever had to file a claim against your home owners with them? No I've never had a claim.
Ok, thanks. I'm not gonna let bad claim reviews sway my decision, I find most people write reviews when bad shit happens and they are mad, there is likely far more success stories than the negative reviews indicate.
Edit to add: One of the agents I called who tried to sell me a policy from a different company actually has Safeco herself, so if an agent is willing to use them, can't be all bad.
I agree on both counts .

For $530 a year I have 119K for my house, 25K for my shop , 61K for personal property and 100K for liability.
I have no idea if that is a good deal or not. I went for years without any home owners insurance but we decided not to press our luck any longer.

I have quoted $394/yr for $230K on the house, $23K for "other structures" $115K personal prop. $500K personal liability
That's based on full payment, if monthly billed it goes up to $425ish/yr.

I must be getting ripped off LOL .But for that price no one even came and looked at my house.Years ago when I tried to get insurance there were all kinds of questions. One was if my hose was recently painted? questions that I could not figure out had to do with anything. Others were about the windows and two are not up to code for egress.

What company is that Safeco? What agent. I might call them. Did you have to answer a lot of questions?

Yes, that was Safeco, Nope, there was not a lot of questions at all. I had my current policy to reference so he could quote apple to apple coverage. Bob @ Towne Center Insurance 541-476-3311

I heat with wood, so we are similar there, but you are in a different county, I'm sure that has an impact.

Yeah who knows. I'm rural residential on a gravel road. My house is worth 220,000 or so and is paid off. Beats me you got a quote from the same company. You pay $100 less are are insured for double what I am and five times more on personal liability.
