I don't care if you are liberal... just don't call me, (or my mom), racist simply because we are not with you politically. That's chickenshit. It would be nice to see the leaders on the left take a stand against it. Do they? That's how I will be convinced. I'm waiting for a party to take the high road. So far, it's not happening... they just tunnel deeper and deeper.

I've never called you, your mom or anyone else for that matter, a racist. With the exception of trump, I might have called him one, I don't remember. But I understand you might be annoyed about that. I get tired of being called a Socialist sometimes too. Maybe you could work on that with your asshole friends on the right?

Exactly. I'm tired of being told I'm for open borders and anti gun. The right stereotypes every bit as much or more than the left.
All I'm saying is that I have no love for Trump. I've been quite clear about that. I am more or less in line with his economic policies but that's not enough to get me to the polls. I don't like him as a human being. However, if I get ridiculed personally for agreeing with him "in general" then that might make the difference in whether or not I vote. And it DID make in difference, for many people, in 2016.

I don't see how you can compare 2016 to 2020. Must of us had no clue what a moron Trump is until he showed the world.
Plus there was a ton of hatred toward Hillary because so many hated Clinton.

You're kidding, right? Trump and the "deplorables" were demonized long before he was elected. And to be clear, me feelings for Hillary have nothing to do with Bill. I can't speak for anyone else.

You must be kidding if you don't think a lot people thought if they voted for Hillary they were simply voting for Bill.

And the deplorable comment? I don't believe for a second she meant every single Trump supporter.

IMO what she meant and what has been show to be true to me is that there are FAR more uneducated , bigoted and racist republicans who supported Trump than those who support her.
There are far more who think environmentalism is a joke. Who think business and money should matter more than plants and wildlife. Who deny the science behind global warming.Who for any reason they think of they mock ANY type of alternate energy. Who got their facts from talk radio and Fox news ONLY. Who think all Muslims are terrorists. Don't forget Trump saw THOUSANDS cheering when 911 happened. Only one of SO many lies only stupid people could believe.
IMO They are indeed deplorable and they are a big part of his base.

Don't get your hackles up because In no way does what I said describe ALL Trump supporters.

I seem to remember that there was a fair amount of denigration going on from both sides. I'm finding it pretty amusing now that folks on the right are getting all sensitive (and selectively amnesic) after them accusing the left of being just that.

Trump and the "deplorables" were demonized long before he was elected.

Trump and the deplorables deserved it and they were fair game at the time. Remember pizzagate? There was some pretty deplorable conduct going on. You seem to feel that the pejorative was aimed at every single member of the Republican Party. I understand that's what the Republican Party wanted you to think but you should have be able to figure that out. Or maybe you did but played along cause that's what so many people do.

(Looks like TV posted faster then I did. If I had known I probably wouldn't have posted this but I'll leave it here now anyway.)

It gets boring.

Yeah never mind that we Boomers helped build this country compared to most all others to what I consider a shining beacon on a hill.
That attracts more people than we can handle. Never mind the amount of food we produce, the medical advances, the technology. The products/goods the military might we use to protect freedom all over the world.

Not me, no FB, never have, never will. But sounds like someone else has the boomer reality all figured out, i would like to buy him/her a drink.

He was talking about you. He didn't say he felt the same .

I can tell for sure that I'm somewhere near the center even though I'm a lefty. Because when I post on liberal left wing liberal sites I get called a Trump supporter.
And when I post on conservative right wing sites I'm told I'm a libtard.  Laughing Big Grin

One more thing. NOTHING describes "deplorable" more to me than those who refuse to believe the science behind climate change.
Those who don't believe it is human caused. Those who look to find fault with any type of alternate energy.
And ESPECIALLY the people who deny the earth and our oceans are warming and that it is and will cause astronomical problems.

I've been wondering about that too. Lately, "blaming the boomers" seems to be a thing. I don't understand.

As for FB, conversing with someone wouldn't be any different there, I suppose. It's FB itself I don't want anything to do with.

Because, among other things, they or I should say Zuckerberg, has a habit everytime they're caught doing something hinky of saying "I know we need to do better, sorry". It's their stock answer for being caught doing inappropriate, stupid or otherwise harmful things to their customers. Why would I want to support that?

GenX, I could get into it but I'd be fighting a losing battle here, besides, unless it comes with free boner pills, Boomers won't listen anyway, They think they are the greatest generation because they partied hard on debt, deficits and broken homes*, but hey they went to the moon!

FB is a massive data mining propaganda social engineering machine. The only thing it has in common with this place is, well, people can converse, until you or disagree with the wrong person, or the wrong social commentary or call someone an idiot, then you are deemed a hate monger and not allowed to play any more. This little slice of the internet you are actually free to be yourself, what a concept.

Not my words, pulled for stats.
*Once known as the “me generation,” baby boomers were born between 1946 and 1964. And it’s among this group—now ages 53 to 71—that the divorce rate is highest. While the rest of the nation has seen a decline in the divorce rate over that last two decades, the divorce rate has doubled for 55- to 64-year olds and tripled for the over-65 group.

For me I don't think me not supporting FB for whatever reason would be a futile meaningless effort and not make any significant difference.
EVERYONE in my family has a FB account as well as friends I have who don't live here anymore. And because of FB I's sometimes in contact with them every day.

I have never seen a photograph of my own Grandfather Neither have my brother or sisters or any of my kids. My brother who is 83 years old was four years old when GF died in 1940. So I got in contact with my great uncles kids in West Virginia and asked if any of them had a photo of THEIR GF.
And one of the 78 years old actually found a photo, took a picture of it with a cell phone and sent it through FB.
And I put the photo on FB so all my relatives now have it.
I think that's pretty cool and it would not have happened without FB. Smiling

Have at it then. I'm not telling anyone what they should do. And no, I don't think I have any affect on FB or what they do by not joining their party. The data record of me that they hold is maybe a little "thinner" then yours but that would be all.

I'm sorry I don't buy that. That's just blame the other guy syndrome.

As for FB, conversing with someone wouldn't be any different there, I suppose. It's FB itself I don't want anything to do with.

Why?

Why what? FB?

Because, among other things, they or I should say Zuckerberg, has a habit everytime they're caught doing something hinky of saying "I know we need to do better, sorry". It's their stock answer for being caught doing inappropriate, stupid or otherwise harmful things to their customers. Why would I want to support that?

LOL I was totally not thinking you were telling anyone what they should do. I was only showing some of the benefits of FB.
And I really could care less what data they mine. It actually has benefits for me.

How old are you? And what specifically have boomers done wrong? And how is conversing with someone on FB any different than doing so here?

WTF does the divorce rate have to do with anything? Is that supposed to prove something?

And this is the first time I have ever heard of boomers being the "ME generation" So since you didn't provide a link I tried to find it. I found lots of definitions and talk about boomers but only found ONE site that said "ME generation" and it was apparently where you found it.
On some site called  AvvoStories??? And it's all about the divorce rate?

https://stories.avvo.com/relationships/d...ation.html

They think they are the greatest generation because they partied hard on debt, deficits and broken homes*, but hey they went to the moon!

So you know what we boomers think? Sorry but the "greatest generation" as far as I know was always describing the men and women from the world war 2 era who came home a built America.

GenX, I could get into it but I'd be fighting a losing battle here, besides, unless it comes with free boner pills, Boomers won't listen anyway,

You say you don't want to get in to it and you makes these stereotyping insults. Rolling Eyes  I'm listening but I haven't heard anything that makes sense yet as to why my generation is any better or worse than any other.

Actually there no need to call anyone in public who is using their real name as well as you are an idiot.
And even of you do what you describe "you are deemed a hate monger and not allowed to play any more. "

Is not even true. Moderators in FB groups can do that. But FB will give you warnings and short temporary  bans. If you get Permanently banned you probably deserve it.

There is propaganda everywhere. Just talking to people they will tell you propaganda. That's one tiny part of FB. And as far as data mining? I don't care. Explain to me where I am harmed by that?

Social media is here to stay. It has it's pro's and cons but it's not going away. It's funny how ME the boomer who allegedly resists and doesn't understand technology is the one who isn't afraid of the future LOL

It was not the boomers who took us to the moon LOL. That would have been the "greatest generation who did that.
