I got to jam with him at Uncle Dave Days. It was a great day, until Liburn told how he used to drive the wagon home, from Nigger Town, with Uncle Dave passed out under the tarp. Suddenly, we weren't so welcome. Liburn said "Do you still want play with 'em?" Well, I did want to play with one of them. It's at least a misdemeaner to refer to Doc Watson as a Bluegrass Artist. I saw him with Merle at Vanderbilt, just before the accident. I thought I might be seeing a dynasty start, but liquor killed it. Doc was senile at the last Merle Fest. So, it was time.
