I did not want to write anything in advance, for fear that all reactionary, gun-toting winngnuts would shun the carwash once they knew this fact;

Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister of John Kennedy and wife of the 1972 Democratic presidential candidate, and all around liberal weenie if there ever was one, conceived of, and founded the Special Olympics in 1968.

Those damned liberals; always interfering with the poor, disabled, and other ne'er do wells.

I had lunch with OL, his wife and son and Tia years ago at my friends Indian Restaurant. It actually went well. I discovered that his son shares most of my political views to OL's great disappointment. Wink Actually, we did not discuss politics which is probably why it went well.

OL needs to know about this. He's supporting the party of the Klan right before our very eyes.

One thing I have NEVER saw at any event, or locally, is anyone bringing any political views into the organization. If one had the ability to divide Special Olympics by political party they would find that it is truly non political. We have people from city councils, business leaders, community leaders, doctors, federal employees, law enforcement, etc supporting worldwide. I have literally watched the true leftist pro Obama socialist, with the stickers on the window saying as much, mingle cohesively with the NRA supporting, flag waving, anti radical muslim, right winger on more than one occasion. Special Olympics brings people to the table that otherwise wouldn't have much to say to each other.

To the leftists point, I know who started it, and even they can have a redeeming quality from time to time. It was also the leftists that staged a Scott Walker protest in the middle of him honoring his state Special Olympics program. I really don't recall any forum leftists speaking out against it.

Why are you ruining such a good thread about a good cause with politics? Ruiners.

First you must define "who". Then I will respond accordingly.

Yeah, anyone who feels the need to bring up politics, again.
Let's count how many liberals and conservatives attended the Special Olympics car wash, for real? That's just sad.

No, what's sad is people like chris and ponder want to go the political route. I simply pointed out that Special Olympics is non political, and people of all race, gender, and political persuasion get together without a care in the world and ACCEPT that they might have differences, for Special Olympics. Now, can you define the "who" part of your post for us?

I was asked not to identify myself if I came.
OL personally lost out on a donation.
Don't tell me it's not political.

NO, you were told that if you didn't want to identify yourself, thanks in advance for any donation. Not identifying yourself is nothing I would hold against you or anybody else. Perfectly understandable. I hope you help out your local program just as much as you claim you would help ours.

With OL, everything is political left/right issues. If Special Olympics is an exception it's the first one I've ever heard out of his mouth.
