Slain U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry honored on birthday, benefit dinner scheduled

Quote:PHOENIX - U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry would have celebrated his 42nd birthday Saturday.

Although he is not around, his family is still hoping to get answers surrounding the December 2010 events involving a suspected drug cartel rip crew that caused him to lose his life defending the border near Rio Rico, Ariz.

Two weapons from Operation Fast and Furious are said to have been used to kill Terry and were found at the scene of his murder.

Terry's family is hoping to get answers about Operation Fast and Furious including documents, emails and information that the U.S. Justice Department won't disclose.

While still pressing for answers, the Terry family has started a foundation in his memory.

The Brian Terry Foundation will be hosting its first benefit dinner on September 17 at JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa in Tucson.

The dinner, which is open to the public, offers sponsorship opportunities and individual tickets to honor the late Border Patrol agent.

Quote:Obama refuses to honor memory of slain Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry

For President Obama, Saturday came and went just as it usually does for most Americans, but for Kent and Josephine Terry, the day was undoubtedly a painful reminder that their son will never return home.

August 11th would have been Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry's 42nd birthday.

A week ago, a campaign was begun on social networking site Facebook demanding that Obama join with the Terry family as well as millions of other Americans in recognizing this agent's sacrifice by lowering the White House flag to half-staff.
View slideshow: Was this really asking too much?

Over the last few days, this reporter appeared on radio talk shows and urged Americans to ask Obama for this rather small gesture of respect and many e-mails were sent and many phone calls were made to the White House with this request.

Not only did Obama refuse to lower the flag on Agent Terry's birthday, he actually ordered the flag to be raised to full-staff on Friday night, after several days of flying the flag at half-staff "in honor of the victims of the Oak Creek" Sikh temple shooting.

On August 6th, President Obama issued the following proclamation: "As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on August 5, 2012, in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, August 10, 2012. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including military facilities and naval vessels and stations."

Of course, last weekend's senseless massacre in Wisconsin was a tragedy, but was Brian Terry's murder no less tragic?

Also, given the fact that Agent Terry was killed with weapons placed into the hands of Mexican criminals via the Obama administration's Fast and Furious program, it could easily be argued that Obama himself, despite his denials, is at least, somewhat responsible for this young man's untimely and violent death.

We should not be surprised by Obama's lack of compassion for the Terry family, after all, his press secretary could not even remember this fallen agent's name.

And now, two of his brothers have been thrown in prison, just for smuggling. These poor rats are under pressure no one could take.
