A Fridge Without Using Electricity!
This incredible idea is an extension of the pottery water cooling vessels
used though the millennia.
This is Mohammed Bah Abba's Pot-in-pot invention. In northern Nigeria, where Mohammed is from, over 90% of the villages have no electricity. His invention, which he won a Rolex Award for (and $100,000), is a refrigerator than runs without electricity.
Here's how it works. You take a smaller pot and put it inside a larger pot. Fill the space in between them with wet sand, and cover the top with a wet cloth. When the water evaporates, it pulls the heat out with it, making the inside cold. It's a natural, cheap, easy-to-make refrigerator.

OK silly me, I'm sure it's on the side facing the guy.
I think this could be improved. If the outside of the big pot was hotter I think the speed of the evaporation would increase. To make this possible you could surround the pot with glass or clear plastic. That would increase the heat on the outside of the pot and increase the rate of evaporation.
Anywho I'm going to send this idea in and maybe I can win Rolex like that guy in the picture. Funny but you would think a Timex would be good enough for that dude.

No idea. I've been hearing about them for years. Popular with the off grid set.
