This steelhead cost $5000+ to catch and then released. The reason I know it cost that much is because one day he left his fishing closet open.Blink

Fishing without a license ?
No fishing pole or tackle?
What are you doing, stealing them from the bears?

How much gas are we talking?

Plus anything you drive costs a lot more that the gas you put in it. It's 61 cents a mile now.

I called and they said it was an honor to have a real fisherman visit the state.

Sure. At any rate saying "all it costs is the gas to get there is baloney". You might want to believe that and it's possible that the fish you catch pay for a lot of the expenses involved.

It costs more than gas and most people are in it for the sport and do not save money on food.. End of story.

That will be in a few days when I help reduce the cougar population and hopefully fill the cooler with steelies if the rain cooperates. I'll leave the house key in the large dog house.Smiling

If anyone has to spend much money to capture an animal with a marble size brain, that says alot about the person.
If the food stamp crowd were not so lazy they could provide food for themselves. End of story.

Wealthy Couple BUSTED Aboard Yacht For Welfare Fraud!

In Miami, millionaires Colin Chisolm III and his wife Andrea were arrested on their $1.6 million yacht — for WELFARE FRAUD.

According to reports, the Minnesota residents received more than $165,000 in FOOD STAMPS and other public assistance over the course of a seven-year period — the two claimed residence at Andrea’s mother’s house before moving to Florida, where they spent another 28 months collecting government benefits. This is the period which luxury suburbanite Colin Chisolm III spent running a satellite TV and broadband services company, and his wife spent breeding pretty pedigree dogs.

After falsely filing for welfare in both Florida and Minnesota, “Lord” and “Lady Chisolm” (as they really did call each other, according to neighbors) were hit with felony charges of defrauding the public for more than $35,000. The couple parked their $30,000 Lexus, loaded up their dog, son and the $2.6 million they’d deposited while collecting food stamps, and climbed aboard the yacht they’d been hiding out in to flee down to the Bahamas.

Lord and Lady Chisolm were promptly deported from the Bahamas, and sent packing…they set sail for Ft. Lauderdale. They were arrested upon arrival in Port Everglades, Florida.

Lord Colin Chisolm III’s pink-checkerboard sweater-vest could not be reached for comment.

I don't know why people get so pissy. It's a farm bill kind of thing. Subsidies are charities for corporations. It just trickles down to food stamps ultimately or goes to waste. But the haters of charities never hate the corporations or CEO's or owners. They hate the bottom of the chain.

ONE PERCENT Larry.

"out-of-state spending on state-issued aid cards was less than 1 percent of the $10.8 billion spent by welfare recipients from January 2007 to May 2010."

The fact remains, the vast majority of people on welfare are extremely destitute, and their measly checks barely improve upon that. But you won't hear from them in today's Times story

When you consider that at least some of the money spent out of state is legitimate (should a welfare recipient be able to visit a sick relative?) and that in some cases no doubt the welfare cards were stolen, we're talking about a tiny group of recipients spending taxpayer money in glamorous locales. Even among these reprobates, the 1996 federal welfare reform law imposed time limits, [b]meaning their little joyrides won't last.

Original Story
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Nearly $69 million in welfare money meant to help California's neediest families was spent or withdrawn at locations such as Hawaii, Las Vegas casinos and cruise ships from Miami.

The finding reported Monday in the Los Angeles Times is based on data compiled since 2007 by the California Department of Social Services.

Data showed that the biggest chunk of out-of-state money – $11.8 million – was spent at casinos or withdrawn from ATMs in Las Vegas. The paper said there were also questionable transactions in Hawaii, Miami and Guam.

The investigation showed out-of-state spending on state-issued aid cards was less than 1 percent of the $10.8 billion spent by welfare recipients from January 2007 to May 2010.

I thought we discussed this before. I'm certain there are cheats scamming the system and I do see them caught from time to time. I also assume Granny or Daddy pay for a family vacation in many of these cases as well. If they qualify for benefits, it shouldn't matter where they are when they need food.
