I agree, Izzy sings this song like no one else. His version is my all time favorite.

Well, Jeff Beck say it best," the best Stratocaster", it don't have no no whammy bar, and it ain't even his best, but in tribute, in second, to Larry:

Lost me a friend tonight. One of my best, and potentially ... or maybe eventually ... my best. A life can turn there, but it has to be mine; hers has ended.

To the Lady ... a Clapton fan ... the lady that left too early. Way too fucking early ... for me.

Sorry for your loss Q. Coincidentally I am in the process of reading Eric Clapton's autobiography.

TV, yes I remember your post of Isreal....beautiful. I love it when songs give me goose bumps.

Why can't we keep these people here forever? Why do the extremely talented seem to die young?

I got that book for Christmas in '08. Not a bad read, but the chapter about his son Conor is very sad.

Non political article by Iowahawk. He had the opportunity to attend last weekends Crossroads Festival (Claptons fundraiser for his Antigua Recovery Center), complete with backstage passes for himself and his son. Good read with really good pictures. Lucky bastard.

Haven't got that far yet.. DH gave me the book back in early 09. Took it with me to North Carolina and left it on the plane. Last week I went to Barnes & Noble and got the paperback version. Reading it and the new Laura Bush book.

I'm not a music snob but for the last few years have kind of given up on 'cool' popular music. More often than not I find myself floundering around on 70's and 80's stations but get tired of it after awhile. So, I've been listening to classical music, the classical station on Sirius which is 77. Lovely stuff, actually. Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto Number 2 is currently my fave. Now I know what music all those ice skaters used to dance to!

There are more challenging classical stations, like 79; the one I listen to is the equivalent of Top 40 Classical tunes Happy but it is very pleasant music, to my ears anyway.

DeBussey's "Girl With the Flaxen Hair", Rocky's Piano No. 2 as mentioned earlier, Trumpet Voluntary with the organ music is awesome, as is Fantasia by... I'll let you know.. and "Pavanne for a Dead Princess" by what's his name Big Grin are ones I hope to hear when the station is on.

Hey, even if I can't remember everything about the piece, like the composer, at least I know some of the names. Sleepy

TM here is a little mix of the classical and R&B. I loved Pavarotti and James Brown was so cool when I was young. I used to dance around my bedroom to his music.

IMO two great artists each special in his own right. BTW I love James Brown's face - like a kid that got to sing with the world's greatest tenor.

Check out Eva singing Danny Boy...and Fields of Gold.

or even....Oh, I had a Golden Thread....or Wade in the Water.

Indeed! A great talent who is sorely missed. Thank the gods we have her recorded voice. And yes, her Somewhere Over The Rainbow is (IMO) the best ever!

Joe's boy is a "Metal Head" so I figured, "I'm half deaf anyway. I'll just fake it". But, he started playing my Taylor and laying out some delicate little harmonies that just blew me away. Then he say's, "I wrote that". I'm thinking of becoming a patron.

Okay.... I know many of you don't have much faith in Roy Clark but, he is actually a very skilled musician. One hell of a guitar player!

I saw Roy Clark at The Josephine County Fair, years ago. No wonder the guy has a heart attack every other week. I can't play all his stuff (And, he can't play all of mine, either), but I can play his stuff with a lot less effort than he puts into it. Why does the guy work so hard? I will give him kudos for being about the only human opry star there ever was. Besides Deford (And of course, Hank).
