REDDIT - Use it?
#1
I know several people who think Reddit is a great site, keeps us up to date with all that's happing, etc. etc. etc.

I don't get it. Clumsy and hard for me to follow threads.

Anyone else use it? (Millions do)

Ironically, I had my first look at it yesterday. It certainly lacks visual appeal, but I'll give it a try for a few days and see how it goes.

I wouldn't say I use it, but I have visited it a couple times for various reasons, but I quickly lose interest. It's a pain in the ass to follow.

Reddit does get good reviews and credit. I too have used it occasionally. I too, also have found it's layout and usability not to my liking so I don't use it much. I know one of it's co owners was Aaron Swartz, who they made a movie about "The internet's own boy" which I never saw. Reddit is highly user contributed and interactive, known for it's diversity and open attitude. I hear it has a strong culture of free speech and content, (hmmmm! Sounds familiar!) but I don't know how, because I've never gotten too deep into it. It has a deep online culture, very active, but one I've never gotten into. Articles are submitted. So, you have to take it or leave it as to whether or not you agree with them or not, think they are well written or resourced or not, etc. etc. although the "Redditors" all have a hand in recommending or not recommending an article.

I'm a regular "redditor" and have my favorite subs that I go to.

Reddit is very awkward to use at first, but once you get the hang of it, it can get addictive.

Some that might appeal to people here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/medford (Our hometown)
https://www.reddit.com/r/android (If you have an android phone)
https://www.reddit.com/r/whatisthisthing (If you ever found something you just can't quite identify)

There are literally hundreds of thousands out there, and it is fun to look around and see what is posted. And you can be sure there are topics on literally EVERYTHING you can think of. They ban illegal things, but the rest is pretty much up there.

If you use Firefox browser, they have a plugin called "Reddit Enhancement Suite" which really cleans things up and make it more comfortable to use.

Thanks!
That gives me a place to start and an idea of how to use it.
I'll report back to you soon.
Thanks again.
