Great gameBig Grin I told my wife before halftime that what do you want to bet the half time show will be stupid.
I should have bet herRazz

I remember when they used to actually be entertaining. They couldn't even get the sound right.
I think 5 year olds would have liked it. Dancing palm trees surf boardsRolling Eyes

And rapSad Maybe I'm just too old?

Nah.. that crap is horrible, young people just don't know itRazz

It's almost as bad as that Charter commercial.. No. It IS as bad. But Katy Perry is good.

I'll agree. Katy is no Madonna.
As far as that insidious Charter ad,
I fantasize about which service rep should be the first to be
Beheaded, or at least tortured with over ripe fruit.
The red haired girl and the fat guy with the crazy eyes
Should be used in hostage exchanges. After that I waver back and forth.
My 2 cents...

DittoLaughing I wondered for a sec and then decided people would know what commercial I was referring to.

Anyway as far as the game.. What the heck kind of call was that Pete?? Great game though.

I don't like Madonna any better than Katie Perry. Meh.

We didn't watch the game. We took our 6 grandkids to see Raffi in concert at the Aladdin Theatre in Portland. It was a wonderful afternoon.

Of course you did. Why would we expect you in participating the biggest United States celebration of the year? Not to worry May Day is a few short months away.

Wasn't a fan of Katie Perry and that show didn't change my mind. Wasn't a fan of Bruno Mars, but he knocked it out of the park last year. That was a great show.

Hawks should fire Carrol. Three downs and two timeouts to get one yard with the Beast as your RB and you pass? WTF? That will go down as the worst call in NFL history.

Yeah, I'd be thrilled with Tom Petty.

You all are way past the age demographic the sponsors are targeting. You all just need to sit out in your rockers on the porch when these halftime events are on. Razz Laughing Katy Perry wouldn't bet my first choice. Being a former concert promoter (70's-80's) I'd go with Rihanna, Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift. (in that order)

The whole game was great right up until that bonehead pass call at the end. It would've been great to see the Pats take it the other way with just seconds left. Instead we got a mess and poor sportsmanship to boot.

FYI, Raffi did 2 SOLD OUT performances yesterday in Portland... at $25 a head, no less. So, there were a LOT of people that didn't participate in the biggest United States celebration of the year.

AAAhhh yes...... "the biggest United States celebration of the year".
The day when Americans come together to support and celebrate union football players and some of the biggest entitlements and corporate welfare in the world.

Who'd thunk that SFL would be a party to such evil?????

Quote:NFL gets billions in subsidies from U.S. taxpayers
By Chris Isidore @CNNMoney January 30, 2015: 10:53 AM ET

NEW YORK (CNNMoney)
If you're a U.S. taxpayer then you're subsidizing the wildly profitable National Football League, regardless of whether you're a fan.

The NFL is the most profitable pro sports league in the U.S., raking in an estimated $1 billion in profits on $10.5 billion in revenue last season, figures that are sure to increase this year.

Those massive profits are made possible in part by the billions of taxpayer dollars that local governments spend on teams, coupled with tax breaks worth hundreds of millions for the teams, the league, their sponsors and fans.

"I've been studying this for 15 years, and I still can not believe cities and states are lined up begging to give money to these very profitable [teams]," said Villanova professor Rick Eckstein, an expert on stadium finance.

Yeah well a couple of us already said we were too old to enjoy that halftime crap. On the other hand I don't see how I could have EVER enjoyed it no matter how old I was.

People like sports. People follow their favorite or local football teams. People like to see who ends up being the champions.
And I doubt many of us care or worry about unions, entitlements or corporate welfare.
I think most of us simply enjoy the game and the athleticism of the participants.

Having said that (SF) No one should be expected to watch the game or be put down because they did something else.

Yeah, that's why I singled out SFL, rather than "many of us".... His history here tells me he worries about such things, or at least, about such things if it doesn't involve something he supports. Or, maybe he just wants us to believe he does...??

But, of course, you found something to have an opposing view on, and as is your way, had to bring it up. Kind of like a coon dog..... always on the hunt for something.
LaughingLaughing

I too agree, the game losing play call will likely go in history as the worst play call ever......... well, except maybe the one in which Pete Carrol blew a championship game for USC.

All I did was give MY opinion of why we watch sports. YOU were the one whining and belittling the game or those who watch.
I wasn't looking for an opposing view. I was simply responding to YOUR derogatory view of the Superbowl. NOW you claim it was not your view? that you were just talking to SFlib?
I was not disrespectful to you in any way. You were BITCHING Gapper. Kind of like a female coon dog, About the super bowl. About unions, corporate welfare, entitlements.

You'd do a lot better if you asked questions rather ASSuming.
I was being sarcastic and giving one of the biggest complainers about unions, subsidies and welfare on the forum crap.
You are right, you spoke out your rear with a tone of respect.
Well done.

WTH? Who friggin' cares? Is it unamerican to not watch the super bowl? I went to a bar. With one tv and six guys at the bar who said "Is that Lady GaGa?" Which was pretty funny. I saw the halftime show. (wish I hadn't. That was worse than terrible) I looked up at one point to see the Seahawks leading and then again to see the end and that they had lost. Now. Was I American enough? If I hadn't gone out for dinner I would not have seen it.

Well, I'm anti amurikin I guess. We got deviled eggs with roasted beets with pickled mustard seeds and tri tips with butternut squash and bleu cheese on toast. I think the beer had a high alcohol content too as it seemed to go to my head rather quicker than usual.
