History.
There have been long wars.
There have been short wars.
There have been small wars, and big wars.
World wars.
Tribal wars.
Gang wars.
The Hatfield's and the McCoy's.
A a few "wars" here on the RVF.

"The human condition". We may never evolve above it.

Maybe the best we can do is treat each other well, one to one, and hope for the best.

I think think that's exactly what the vast majority of educated people who live in modern countries do.
It's not what ignorant people who would still be riding camels if it wasn't for their oil.

Also you forgot "Junkyard wars", The "war of the worlds" "The war on drugs"

I agree. Human nature is complicated. Good and bad. Unspeakably evil, but also astonishingly beautiful. Tribes have been trying to destroy their opponents from the beginning. A lot of people spend their entire lives in some form of that endeavor, mostly (in the first world) just symbolically or by proxy. It's sick and wrong, but it never seems to change. OTOH, maybe it is changing, gradually.

Actually I've read where people didn't fight or have wars until we had things to fight over.
Basically the theory is that the fighting didn't occur until there was something to fight over.
And that was when people started growing crops and domesticating animals. At that point others who were nomadic and possibly starving had an incentive to attack steal and kill others who had what they needed.
So basically we can blame war on Farmers and ranchersRazz

But today we have people with ancient ignorant beliefs who have been thrust in to the modern world simply because they have boatloads of cash.
They don't want what we have. They want us to think and act like they do. Or by God they will kill ANYONE, innocents, man women , child.

And No Obama, they don't need jobs. They need to be dead.

Yes, war continues.

But I doubt that the Iranian navy will ever threaten to defeat the U.S. Navy. Should Iran attack a U.S. Navy ship in international waters they open themselves to total destruction and I suspect they know it.

This video is for internal distribution to buck up the home front.

I wanna know where you got it. I've been lookin' for one of them for ages.

This stuff is not going to start a war. But, we may have to take a couple of little punches and just deal with it rather than going ballistic. Remember the USS Cole, bombed while it was harbored and being refueled in the Yemeni port? Bill Clinton let it slide and it was the right move. A bunch of right wing nut jobs were calling for all out war. We are living in a time when we may have to take a couple of black eyes from terrorists, and we may have a few more hits here at home.

But, it "they" ever attack us full on, they bette bring the A team. We have a military ready for defense. I don't like the taxes, but I sure like the defense!

He started a thread. It may or may not get people to post THEIR opinions.
But unlike you Wonk I could care less that CW didn't give HIS opinion.

Quote:Hawaii threatened by North Korea now, U.S. commander tells Congress

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/nation-w...97144.html

Quote: The Pentagon needs to consider deploying new anti-ballistic missile systems and a defensive radar to Hawaii to protect against a growing threat from North Korea, the top U.S. military officer in the Pacific told Congress on Wednesday.

“Kim Jong-Un is clearly in a position to threaten Hawaii today, in my opinion,” Adm. Harry Harris, the chief of U.S. Pacific Command, told the House Armed Services Committee. “I have suggested that we consider putting interceptors in Hawaii that . . . defend (it) directly, and that we look at a defensive Hawaii radar.”
That should boost the economy.

Actually this is bad, South Korea is a valuable trading partner.
