Memories Pizza, the Indiana establishment, which sparked national outrage over its owner’s anti-LGBT comments made Wednesday during a local news broadcast, has raised a whopping $842,387 in donations from supporters.
And a whole new industry is born! I'm going to be against something soon and rake in a bit of cash too.
So I wonder wonder what these folks will do with the windfall? My guess is another pizza store that will continue to practice the good old American tradition of being selective about who they sell the product to.
When I open my store, I'm going to sell to anyone who has the cash. Now THAT is the good old American tradition that made this country great.
However, when I go to church, I don't want a bunch of damn athiests next to me singing hymns. Who knows, they could even be gay.
And another response predicated on, and perpetuating a LIE. They have NEVER refused service to ANYONE. Just like "Hands up, Don't shoot", it DID NOT HAPPEN.
Okay.
I gotta tell ya I really don't care all that much. I glanced at the story, my impression was that some folks didn't want to sell to some gay people, and if that was not the story so be it.
We face some REAL problems.
Oregon forests are going to be tinder dry this year.
The SF Giants need two more good pitchers.
We still have a health care crisis in this country.
Too many of our fellow citizens are morbidly obese.
Motorcycles are too expensive.
Our congress needs fixing.
Californian needs water and they have money. They may steal (buy) ours.
Medford needs a good deli.
And so it goes.
This thing? Let the courts figure it out. I mean, we have Clarence Thomas on our Supreme Court, not to fear! (He won't talk about it, but his buddy Tony will tell him how to vote)
In the meantime, I'll get my cake and eat it too.
BwaHaHaHaHa!!!!

If you don't want to bake the freaking cake then don't get into the cake baking BUSINESS!
What if people in the business of emergency health care refused to treat people because they were Christians?!?! Then you would be pitching a freaking sh*t fit! But they don't refuse to treat Christians... because it's their freaking JOB!
Good Gawd... you just can't fix stupid.
I somewhat agree. I would have baked the cake. But I would not FORCE someone to if they didn't want to.
The question to snail, and now to you, is: Do you agree the government has the legal right to FORCE you bake the cake? I think they do, but I would not characterize it that way. I think the government has the right to prohibit businesses from discriminating.
So the government should be able to FORCE a Doctor to perform abortions, if the Doctor does not want to?
If that is in the Doctor's job description... and it is legal... yes.
If the Doctor doesn't want to do that job, they can get a different job.
So will you go on the same record, and say that government should FORCE a printing company to make "God Hates Fags" signs if they don't want to? Tolerance is a two way street.

She won't. She has never contributed anything other than snide remarks.

The older I get, the more neutral I become, but I liked Zappa's insights.

A Religious Business serves the public, gay, straight, white, black, Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Atheist. At their place of business. Let's call it a flower shop. No one is refused. The owners are Christian, but serve their public on a daily basis. One of their customers, a gay one, who has purchased from them many times, asks them to cater their wedding. They say no thank you, here is a another flower shop who will be happy to help you.
Have they committed a felony? A crime of any kind?
Another flower shop. Owned by a Muslim family. Daily they sell to every customer who comes in. Gay, straight, white, black, Jewish, Muslim, and Atheist. The same gay customer walked across the street from the Christian who said no, and the Muslim flower shop owners no, on THE SAME MORAL GROUNDS that the Christian flower shop did.
The only shop persecuted in the media, is the Christian shop.
Why?

I'm not taking this up with you. As I said above, the older I get the more neutral I feel. I see both sides. I do believe the effrontery would be all the greater if someone refused a Christian on similar grounds, but still, all being equal.

The hypocrisy is making her head spin. In Colorado it is OK for a gay owned cake shop to refuse service to a Christian who wants to put a Biblical verse on their cake, but a Christian bake shop owner must bake a cake for a gay couple with a topper of two grooms holding hands. The thought of having to defend this is making her brain explode.

Eat Me!
What I meant was that discrimination can and does happen with nothing controversial written on cakes. It is about the buyer of the cake. By the way, what is written on those pizzas?

Memories Pizza owners said they WOULD refuse to cater a gay wedding. Do people serve pizza at a weddings? In any case, the pizza parlor without a request to cater a gay wedding wanted everyone to know they would not if asked. So they got the controversy they wanted and some money from all the gay haters that agreed. You are right; there is no victim, not even the pizza place. In the process they discovered that hate sells better then pizza.

I can give you the name of a Christian that was refused service from a gay baker. Bill Jack. All he wanted was some cakes with Biblical verses on them. Request denied.

I don't think it's fair for These people to call them "gay haters" just because they don't want to serve them based on their religion.
I wouldn't want to go to some party with a bunch of gay people. But that sure as hell doesn't mean I hate gays.
I don't want to go to some party with a bunch or Christians and I don't hate them either.
If you want to use the term gay haters maybe you could save that for the people who attack them or drag them with trucks.
