I have all winter to make a decision. I'll remove lawn sod for sure, and my guess is I'll replace it with bark and a few well placed rocks. Maybe a couple of dogwood trees.
Thanks again!
Just plant some drought tolerant stuff. here's a few suggestions.
Star Thistle, black berries, goathead vine, Poison oak and crabgrass. Glad to help

Bark needs to be continuously replenished as it breaks down. Often as much as annually . Maybe rock?

Native plants are the best bet for growing under oaks. Having been in the business, I recommend the plants in this article. http://www.arthurleej.com/a-OregonGrape.html

Yep. I have LOTS of Oregon Grape around. Oak leaves hand up in it like crazy, but I like the stuff...native and all that.

Maybe you should grow MJ, you could pay the larger water bill with the profits.

No bark, unless you want every cat in a 5 mile radius to make your property their personal dumping ground.

Thanks, but it's in GRANTS PASS!
If I travel THAT far (almost 30 miles) I take extra blankets, emergency food supplies, water, and flares.
I put almost 6,000 miles on my pickup last year and have vowed to hold it down this year...so far, so good, but had to drive to Jacksonville twice which ran up the milage like crazy.
