Did the Bi-partisan support of NAFTA help the American worker?

In your reply to OL the anti health care. It is not health care it is insurance. IMO the only thing it did was to enrich the insurance companies .

We are sitting here rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic , As the faceless bureaucracy marches along churning rules and regs.
When congress does act that same machine interprets the intent. That's where we differ.

What has Congress done to protect the American worker? Other than OHSA, work week , meaning in the last 6 years

Oh, I never said that Democrats don't support trade agreements that hurt the American worker; they have. Bill Clinton and Obama are both guilty of that.

However, it's the Democrates that are for equal pay, raising the minimum wage, and proposing programs that provide better pay and working conditions for the American worker. You certainly know the Republicans are not proposing anything, right?

The anti health care comment is based on the fact that the Republicans proposed nothing, and although what we ended up with was less than perfect, it is better than nothing for so many Americans.

If you remember how Obamacare was developed, you know it was arguably the best that could be accomplished with one side fighting to allow nothing.

Your rhetorical question "what has congress done to protect the American worker?" Kind of makes my point. I think congress does nothing, after all where is that job bill?

I do however, see your point and agree that regardless of party, the bureaucracy welcomes members of both parties.

When did we start having to look to the government for bills and programs ? Working conditions.... Fed OHSA over state OHSA .. If we are talking about worker safety  I'm all for it.
Why does the government need to be involved in better pay for the workers. The only workers that have received "better pay"  are those who are employed by a government entity.

The dems had a super majority in the house, senate and the pres.  They could pass anything they wanted . They fucked the people by letting lobbyists  win.

Clete, Over my lifetime I have fought and clawed to reach my salary. Now the talk is $ 15 an hour minimum wage. So in Oregon the workers get a 55% percent increase. Now will I see an increase? not hardly .  Inflationary. If the bottom raises then every other business will follow. Usually less product. for the same price .

Congress should be slow and cumbersome. The ACA is a prime example as to why it should be burdensome.

Oregon 67 that super majority was short lived and the dems got a lot of things passed.
Between the GOP tying up Al Franken election for months on end and Kennedy's death and foot dragging to replace him that super majority didn't last long.

Good God man what the hell is wrong with you?

Back to climate change. If you bothered to look, you would see more areas on the planet are flooding than ever before. The storms of 2015 have dropped more rain in less time than storms in past years which causes most of the flooding.

I have no idea what is causing this severe weather, but some very smart scientists say the do. So, as TVguy pointed out, you should probably start getting your climate news from these scientist and not Rush Limbaugh.

India, Norway, Honduras and.....

The climate has changed for the entire time this has been a planet, what makes you think all of a sudden 10 trillion dollars will change all that?

Well Chuck...kinda.  Smiling

But our resident ranter is directing our attention to the fact that in the history of our planet we've have many climate changes. We've also had at least five extinctions (so the paleontologists tell us). No serious person argues that our most recent problem with the change in our climate is a first time event.

The issue this time is we have some billions of people living on the globe who are burning carbon fuels which is trapping heat and keeping it in our atmosphere. (Other factors add to the problem too). And when billions of folks are going to be impacted by these changes all hell is going to break loose.

Our scientists tell us that in the past our climate changed for a variety of different reasons. The most interesting thing about it is that as far as we know mankind was not around. We have fossil records, but no evidence of humans during those violent times.

So, that was then and this is now. To deny we are facing a real possibility of severe weather changes as the climate changes is just plain ignorant. And THIS time billions of people will suffer.

But our ranting cartoon poster somehow uses his grade school mind to connect his denial of a possible climate change with our presidents actions--whatever they are. I strongly suspect that O/L's real problem with Mr. Obama is that Obama Sr. was a black man.

O/L, and those like him, are the reason "The Donald" is getting so much attention. Trump will fold of course, as election time gets closer and serious people begin to react. In the meantime the noise is ugly.

O/L, you don't deserve this kind of attention. But, once in awhile we need to call you out for what you are and thank the gods for this democratic space where even you are entitled to rant and rave and spout your lack of anything approaching knowledge or genuine information.

And Chuck, he would DENY the plane hit the mountain.  Laughing
