Or is that too Onionesque?

MEDFORD, OR—Overcome with humiliation after being stopped on his way out of the office and informed his backpack was wide open, local billing specialist Dennis Lee, 30, reportedly stood stock-still Friday as coworker Mike Faziola zipped the bag up for him. “Oh, hold on, your backpack’s open. Let me get that,” said Faziola, as Lee—standing in full view of numerous colleagues—gritted his teeth, bent his knees slightly, and squeezed his shoulder straps tightly in his fists while he waited for the act to be over. “There you go. Don’t want your stuff falling out onto the street.” Sources confirmed that Lee’s few remaining shreds of self-respect were then swept away when, without any warning, Faziola grabbed the shame-ridden man’s sweatshirt hood, which had gotten twisted and bunched up underneath his backpack, and straightened it out for him.

I don't get it.
Edit: I do get that he acted like it was his pants zipper being zipped up, but whatever.

It's not the article itself that caught my eye, it's the place name that did it. The article isn't the best.

OK, fine, Cletus...I just thought it was interesting that the article located the story as Medford Oregon. Sure, it could have been funny. I wasn't trying to get you laugh. You're definitely pretty dull.

In any case, I got a good laugh at this headline below your story.

Oh, you all are hopeless. Doesn't anyone ever read an Onion story? I thought it was cute they placed (the admittedly lame story...what does that say about us) in Medford OR.

Sure and normally it's some story that's not true at all but at first you think it is. Plus it's usually amusing.
What you posted is neither.. What you posted is so off the mark that when people read it they don't know WTF they just read. That's why you are getting the responses that you see.
What does it say about Medford?I think Nothing, they probably picked the city at random.

I remember the first time I read an article from the Onion. I had no idea that the onion was a satrical magazine. I thought the reporter was nuts. Someone kindly told me about the Onion.

The North Koreans are reguired to think Kim is a sexy man. If I remember correctly, they also said his dad never took a dump.
