It's Snowing!
#1
There is about 2 to 3 inches on the ground here and it is snowing lightly off and on. IMO, if it's going to be cold outside, it might as well be snowing.

I like seeing it snow just for the change of scenery. If you like it too, go out and walk around in it. It will probably melt by this afternoon.

Yeah, if it was Monday the schools would have closed. We got 2 full inches.  Big Grin I heard out in your neighborhood it takes 2 feet to close anything down.

Too bad for your niece Scrapper. That is not a small tree. Everytime I see a photo like the one you posted, I think about that big Fir tree next to my garage. Perhaps I should have it removed.

They were luck that no one was hurt.  I think about that too, Cletus... for my parents!  Scary!

Actually it's more like half a foot that closes the schools since kids are bused from a 20 mile radius (we rarely get 6 inches all at once, it's usually the ice from melting afterwards that causes the problems). But, yeah, the businesses stay open until there is close to a foot (which doesn't happen in my area except on a very rare occasion).  We rarely get 6 inches all at once.

I hope it's a rental and the landlord is responsible for not properly maintaining the tree.

I just called and spoke to my parents in Grants Pass... they're out 238. They're fine; but have no power, cable, internet, running water or phone (other than their cell phones which are at 16% and 35%. So I told them to save them in case of an emergency). They have a fire going and made coffee, so they're warm and toasty!

I hate being without power, even for a few hours. Have they considered investing in one of those Generac's that engage automatically? I think you can get one for under $2,000 that will run the essentials.

No, but they've never been without for too long.  This morning it went out around 6am.  If it ended up that it was going to be days or something... I'm pretty sure they would just rent a room someplace that has power & water.

Don't. Think about all of the people who have trees all around their house. When my neighbor died the new owner moved in and immediately cut down almost all of the trees. One was a beautiful spruce or something like that. Tall healthy, and majestic. The idiot cut it down.

You have insurance, the odds that it will kill you are very low. Don't be a pussy Razz

So they don't have a charger for cell phones that plug in to the cars? They should get one,, it sounds like they live in the boondocks somewhat?
