Anyone Here Listen To Audio Books?
#1
My eyes are shot.
Oh sure, I could see an optometrist and buy prescription glasses. But hey, that's money down the drain I could use for paying for porn sites.  Embarrassed . So, I use "cheaters", even though they are not all that effective these days. I see the text okay but after a few hours my eyes "give out".

So, I'm thinking about Audible.com and listening to recorded books. I know they are pricey, but if it's a solution so be it.

If anyone here listens to recored long-form stuff, I'd like to know how you feel about it.

Thanks.

That might be an option. But then you'd need hearing aids too.   Razz

The glasses might be cheaper.

I know two people who listen to audio books more than paper reading.  One of them travels a lot for their job and listens to books in his vehicle.  The other one is a Millennial who is too lazy to read.  I have tried to have conversations with the latter on books we have both "read", and he is clueless about important content within the book.  The former, because he is older AND a reader, seems to get the gist from the audio books.

My two cents.

Try Librivox they have public domain audio books. Plus check the Library, they have some. I think. Also put "free audio books" into the search bar of YouTube. You'll get a lot of hits...maybe not what YOU are looking for. I used to get audio books, I liked them, but I was downloading files and found them difficult to work, they often played out of sequence and that was a hassle. I've never bought an audio book.

Well, just jam the earbuds in and crank the volume up to max.

Thanks...that's a dime's worth and I appreciate it.

Thanks for the tip about the library...didn't occur to me they might have them.

I think the newer devices might play them well, but the books ARE expensive. Just a thought, but all things considered I think I'll stay with reading printed stuff and deal with the minor problems.

What are you saving your money for you cheap hoarding bastard  Razz I bet you have more money than Trump. Wouldn't just getting good glasses be cheaper than what you call "pricey" recorded books?

I'm sure I would hate audio books because no one can talk as fast as one can read. Anyway I thought the vision problem was solved by Kindle or nook or whatever?

Things change. I'm tryin' to keep up but stuff keeps goin' downhill faster than I can roll.

But life is good. I got hot water on demand, a toilet that flushes and plenty of lard for fryin' catfish.
