Quote:Sex crimes prosecutions: Prosecutors will no longer face a 12-year statute of limitations on rape and other first-degree sex crime cases, if they're able to obtain certain types of new evidence to corroborate the crime.
Wildlife poaching: Poachers will face tougher penalties starting in 2017, and if you're convicted of breaking wildlife laws three times in 10 years, a judge will now order the seizure of your guns, boat, or anything else you used to commit that crime.
Cutting brewery red tape: A new, expanded license will allow breweries to also sell wine and liquor onsite and hold special events, while continuing to distribute beer.

I think poachers need much harsher penalties. They should have their 2nd amendment rights revoked after being caught the first time.

Agreed, with the correction above.

Good point. A real difference between charged and convicted.
Reminds us that laws are necessary and we should embrace them. "Get the government out of my life" is a mantra heard too often by many who are unwilling to share in the responsiblity of helping to provide oversight of those who make our laws.
The government has no business in my bedroom. That the government requires me to provide proof that I need dynamite is another story.
Not easy this stuff. I need to stay informed and be involved.

I wish they would make the penalties tougher in all states. There are a few game warden TV shows I've watched.
And I'm quite amazed at the lengths the wardens will go to collect evidence, stake outs etc to catch poachers or hunters who purposely do illegal things.
And the penalties are often not much more than a slap on the wrist.

I don't really know, only guessing, but I bet one problem is too few game wardens.
More game wardens = more taxes. Can't have THAT!

I think they are paid with the revenue for hunting and fishing licenses. The amount of game wardens is probably an issue.
But I'm talking about the fines/penalties given for the crimes. They are simply too lax.
The TV shows tell you what the people are charged with. The shows are OK as long as your finger is on the fast forward button
“Lone Star Law,” the swiftly paced new show on Animal Planet that follows Texas game wardens, is a testament to the vastness of the state's landscape as well as the bravery and creativity of the law enforcement officers who guard its natural resources. Including one who was caught himself illegally

OH, come on TV_GUY, I'm sure you've had poached salmon before.
Maybe even poached eggs.

The he HAD poached salmon does not mean he poached salmon.
The comment about poached eggs is enough to remind us that we should thank the gods every day we were born English spearkers and did not have to to go to night school to learn it.

It just reminded me of one more of Chucks Jokes that should have hit the cutting room floor.
So has anyone seen any of these game warden shows?

Yes to me a lot of it is interesting. I love animals and I like forensics. Plus it's good to see the bad guys get caught.
