Oroville Dam
#1
Rep. Doug LaMalfa, a Richvale Republican who represents area in Congress, said he has been in contact with the White House and the Speaker of the House Paul Ryan about the situation.
LaMalfa wrote in a letter to the White House on Monday:
"The danger of failure (of the primary or emergency spillway) is likely to persist for months as California’s winter and spring runoff seasons progress, and it is extremely unclear when state agencies will be able to mitigate the danger to a degree that would allow residents to return to their homes.
"A Presidential Disaster Declaration would immediately make federal aid available to support evacuation and shelter of the residents of Butte, Sutter, and Yuba Counties, as well as increase the capacity of federal, state, and local agencies to address the crisis as it develops."

No word from Trump.  ?

I'd say we've been dam lucky so far

Hint: Don't buy a house on the low side of a dam.

True enough.Or figure your odds of it being a problem. I could wear a titanium helmet if I worried about small meteorites.
You could also say don't buy a house where there are tornadoes. floods, wild fires,Somalians,Rattlesnakes, swarms of locusts, Airplanes, Meth heads, rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperadoes, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers, or Methodists!

Isn't it great that we get to chose where we live!
And if we buy a house in a flood plain, FEMA will bail us out. Maybe...I'm just guessing.
But good point about the Methodists. The have a method. I don't trust folks with a method.

I have relatives in Yuba city. I can tell you they did not choose to be in the path of a disaster. We all hope it will work out, but it's not like they did not do their homework. Who the hell thinks the dam above them will fail. Seriously, What the hell will you do if lost Creek dam fails? The blame game is so worn out.

Well, if Lost Creek fails I won't get wet unless I'm visiting Shady Cove. And I'd never buy a house on the Rogue. I'd never buy a house in the middle of a forest either. But, we get to make our own choices.

I hope your relatives in Yuba City are safe from harm and never have to run again from what might be a torrent of raging water. But if one lives in Yuba City, water is not exactly an unknown problem.

I tried to say as much. But the blame game does work when you move next to a golf course and complain about the noisy planes.
Or you move next to an airport and complain when a titlist lands in your oatmeal.
Was I clear this time Razz
