Traffic crash scatters big tubs of live eels enroute to South Korea – considered a delicacy and aphrodisiac. Verrrry popular in So. Korea.
This poor driver got hit hard with the slimy soup of eels and liquid medium.
Some of the most valuable “fish” in the world lie dying in a ditch. No humans were seriously hurt in the crash.
Highway expected to open at 3pm.

Giant mess on Highway 101 at milepost 131, between Otter Rock and Depoe Bay. Flatbed truck with tanks full of live eel has rolled, spewing water and eels all over the highway and beyond. Two other vehicles have been damaged. Highway is completely blocked.

Reports from the scene say that Highway 101 will be shut down for SEVERAL HOURS. Detour is for motorists to use Siletz Highway 229.

There are injuries. Two injured people are walking to awaiting ambulances.

Three ambulances were enroute to the scene. It’s been determined that first responders on scene will need only one. Two ambulances are enroute back to headquarters.

After evaluation of all involved in the crash, medics have determined that nobody involved is needing a trip to the hospital.

Depoe Bay Fire bringing in a water tender to assist in removing the animal debris from the highway.
