This piece sounds a lot like it comes straight from the mouths of those who sell magazines LOL.
Anyway it seems like you are arguing against something no one here has said. That magazines don't have any value.
Whatever. I posted it for whatever value is has, or doesn't have. Take it for what it's worth. And my "argument" is over.

I subscribe to, and read, magazines and newspapers. I read books, mostly nonfiction but value and enjoy fiction too. I also read information on web sites that I value, for a number of reasons. I enjoy Podcasts (should be web-casts) and value a few of them also. I also enjoy social conversation with friends and learn things from those interactions. I've learned things from You Tube (gotta be careful there). I watch some TV. And Netflix, etc. I enjoy movies.
However, I don't pray.
I don't listen to "Talk Radio".

We all get to make choices. I've posted comments here about some of the choices I make. I'd bet we all agree that good citizenship requires being informed and we all get to make choices about the sources we use to gain that information. We get to disagree about some of it. Occasionally we have good "debates" and learn from one another.

That about sums it up. For me, anyway. Nothing here I want to argue about.

Me neither except maybe Talk radio. Just because it is dominated by radical right wing bullshitters doesn't mean all talk radio is worthless.
I used to travel a LOT to work and listening to lawyers, financial advisors and such is a valid way to learn.
As well as listening to what the callers have to say.
The Kim Komando show is about consumer technology and a person can learn a lot listening to her.
Maybe if I start traveling a lot I'll turn her in. Until then I'll get my consumer technology information from other sources . I thought "Talk Radio" meant that the host takes calls from folks calling in. All well and good except we have no way of knowing if those who call in have ANY real knowledge about the subject. All too often on the Talk Shows I've heard, the vast majority of those who call do so to hear themselves talk.
Maybe I don't know what Talk Radio means...
Maybe I don't really care.  Wink
I thought "Talk Radio" meant that the host takes calls from folks calling in.

Yes and the callers for the most part ask questions and in turn those questions are answered. Hence the knowledge. And if the caller started talking out their ass the host would straighten them out.

880 AM KCMX Saturdays at 4 PM.  If I'm in the car at that that's what I will listen to. Or if I'm home and outside working I might listen.

That's funny. I never thought of that as the definition. I think of it as one of different formats.  I think "Talk  Radio" is people talking over playing music.  Big Grin Laughing

Talk radio is a radio format containing discussion about topical issues and consisting entirely or almost entirely of original spoken word content rather than outside music.

True enough. But it's pretty hard to contest THIS simple example. We are not talking science here.

Well, that is wrong, the Earth was 6,000 years old a while back. Must be 6,010 by now.

Thus proving my point. Thanks for playing. Is being a total asshole your only joy in life these days? My God. If you'd been in my basic training you would have been the one fracked, no doubt about it. Your Mickery Rooney poor sap from the big city routine is really wearing thin.
