But as of about 2 hours ago the smoke blew in and not I can't even see Tablerock and that's only two miles.

That hill below is less than 1/2 mile from my house. I think the air here is probably hazardous.

Interesting how everyone gets different reads....all morning we were hovering at around 140...right now it's 180 and I can really feel it. I HAD to go outside and do some watering.  Spent about a half an hour.  Felt sicker by the minute.
Can't you get a sprinkler and just go out and move it every so often?

I do.  It's just the side yard that I had to do. But even the days when I go in and out for the sprinkler I can feel it. I'm very sensitive. I've got some masks on the way.  I give in.

The atmosphere is pretty dynamic. It doesn't surprise me that readings aren't uniform from place to place and time to time. I would expect it.

I didn't see it that high today....but I have. Every evening around 5 to 7 it seems to get worse.  The little light on the purifier goes to red, but I don't need to see that to know, I just start to feel worse and worse.  Now the AQI is reading 197.

Yes it says 197 but right now the wind cleaned out the air around me and it way better than that now.

I kind of use Roxy Ann as a gauge...I can see it right now. I figure it's about 2 miles away. So that's better. Sometimes it just disappears. But does visibility mean better? Could it be more visible and worse pollutants?

That works very well. No mote Tinypic for me... Thanks Big Grin

I'll have to switch over

This is the air quality in Grants Pass. It's not a 'AQ" number but actual concentration in micrograms per cubic meter.

That tells me nothing Big Grin

And what the AQ index tell you?

to convert from AQindex to ugrams/CM

https://www.airnow.gov/index.cfm?action=...calculator

A AQI of 100 would be 154 ug/CM
50 would be 54 ug/CM
200 would be 254 ug/CM

and a 500 tops out at 604ug/CM

Anything over 604 pegs the AQI at 500

The AQI uses a 24 hr average

the chart above are 15 min average.

It used to be the kiss of death to be called a nerd. No more.  Badge of honor and value these days.
