Medfords air quality just went to hell

At three o'clock it was MODERATE at 74 and that's about as good as it's ever been.
But a strong wind from the west came along and not it's as bad as it's ever been. I can Barely see 2 miles.

Bummer

And it looks like it's going to stay that way. They are predicting a wind shift with the wind coming from the south. To bring us the Carr fire smoke. The satellite picture on the news showed the wildfire smoke drifting all across the continent. They get the dispersed stuff, we get the pure, concentrated stuff.

A wind from the south might not be as bad as the west because the carr fire (Redding) is a lot farther away Than Galice.

And it's funny how the wind works anyway. I seriously doubt we will get a wind from the south or if we do I doubt it would be for long.
I know for a fact that the wind where I am almost always comes from the north west.
A wind from the south here where I live is extremely rare.

I found this wind forecast and speed site . It looks to me like they are saying the wind tomorrow will be about the same as today.
If I'm reading it right.

We had a similar experience, I blinked and air quality went to shit. A couple hours later if has cleared out some. I think we are in for this kind of roller coaster for awhile.

Try this. https://www.windy.com/?500h,2018-08-12-1...-122.783,4

If you see a orange dot that says wind, click on that to open tools. Use the slider to get a map with more surface winds. It looks like we all will be living with smoke until Sunday when it turns more onshore. (See the days and times at the bottom?)

It's been very accurate following hurricanes around the globe, even many days out.

"Tomorrow: High temperatures will get a little bit warmer as we head into the afternoon. Also, with upper winds lighter and shifting from the south, expect smokier conditions across much of the area."

Upper winds?  Anyway I think channel 12 is nuts LOL Everything else I looked at said NW winds which is par for the course.
I guees we will see Smiling

Yesterday when Medfords air was unhealthy I was talking to my friend in Shady Cove who's air was pretty clean.
Today Medford is not so bad (unhealthy for sensitive groups) and Shady cove is awful at 222 very unhealthy.
So much for going up there for a visit Sad

I don't remember seeing Chiloquin on the DEQ air quality map but it'd there now and their air has been hazardous all morning and now it's just VERY UNHEALTHY

Shady Cove has been hit hard lately

Medford's air was hazardous between 1 am and 6 am but now we are just "unhealthy' I think LOL, the reports are two hours behind for some reason.

Yes, I figured, TV, but as usual, you display your unnatural talent for taking the breath right out of a post.   Blink Laughing
