Edgar - Deadliest Catch
#1
Apparently he plead guilty to abusing a 16 year old girl. This was in July. I did not hear one word of this on any of the news networks I frequent. I found out from an off handed comment someone made which resulted me in a doing a google search and sure enough....
You can do your own research if you want the details....

Here is what I don't understand, and this is just an example, Roseanne makes what was deemed a racist tweet and her career is over, her past catalog of work is archived, re-runs no longer in syndication, etc. Here we have someone from one of the most successful shows on cable TV admitting to abusing a girl and he appears to be getting a pass. Was given a suspended sentence therefore no jail time, just some fines to pay (slap on the wrist) Why has Discovery not addressed this? Will he still be on the show? The current season on air during all of this was not impacted so it would appear Discovery is doing the ole' see no evil hear no evil routine. Why in the court of public opinion is Roseanne vilified, but Edgar gets to yuk it up with all his pals on "The Bait" like nothing happened?? Is not what he did just as egregious, if not more so?? I don't get it.....Where is the "Me too" army??

Beats me. I understand what you mean. It's always been so.  Not just about this topic, but all topics. Whoever we decide to get offended by and others just slide on by.  It's a mystery. By the way, I don't know who Edgar is. Wink

He is just one guy on one boat on the show. And if the shows producers refused to include Edgar they would also have to refuse everyone on the ship the (Northwestern) too.
If the network took a stand it would not end Edgar's career anyway like Roseanne's.Well not his fishing career I mean.

Anyway It's possible Roseanne is guilty of nothing if she didn't know whatsherface was black and whatsherface doesn't even look black

The worst public beheading over someone supposedly saying something racist is the gov of Florida.
DeSantos said, "The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state."

It seems VERY unlikely to me and ridiculous to claim the comments had any racial meaning at all and yet the blacks jumped all over him.

You and most people are more likely to know which pimple on Roseanne's ass is her favorite than who this guy is.  Laughing  THAT is why it's not covered by MSM to Gp's expectations.

I get that Roseanne is a megastar compared to Edgar, that was just the first comparison to come to mind. And certainly I would not expect Edgar to lose his fishing career, but certainly his TV career. Given the circumstances, plus some hot water that Sig got in with some other assault charges, I think DC should dump them from the show. But DC is a huge show for Discovery and they obviously do not want to disrupt coverage of a favored boat so they keep mum on it, hoping it quietly passes, and I think it's pretty shitty of them.

Who cares if some TV personality had a misdemeanor assault charge? Look at
Jack Nicholson Razz

And with Edgar, even if he was drunk and even if the girl was closer to 17 than 16 He's still totally in the wrong ... BUT..IMO if she was the one instigating the act and he was impaired then was she really abused or assaulted?

I means abused or assaulted as the definition of and not the law. I know I'm making excuses for him LOL

On another note GP. Do you think Sig is an idiot for continuing to captain that boat when he has a bad heart? I mean he acts like his job is more important than his family.I don't even know if he quit smoking.
And I'm quite sure he doesn't need any more money.
He's going to go just like Phil went if he keeps it up.

Yes, I do think Sig is an idiot for continuing to captain. We (as a species) always think we have more time. He is destined to croak on that boat if he keeps it up and when that day comes, if he has time to realize it before it's curtains, he WILL regret it.

speaking of captains in bad health, Keith is another one that seems to be in denial about his health and this week's recap interview episode, chugging on an energy drink, what are these guys thinking?!?!

Regarding Edgar, assault/abuse, etc yes, that gets into the nitty gritty details of the incident, so we'll never know. However, at his age, impaired or not, he put himself in a position he had no business being in and I believe he knew exactly what he was doing, riding his stardom and trying to pull a Trump (grab'em by the....) He is also a recovering addict, so unless he was off the wagon I don't believe he was impaired at all, and neither of the 2 articles I read indicated he was impaired.

Yeah I forgot about Keith. I thought he was going to clean up his act but I was surprised to see he didn't lose any weight and not much seems to have changed.
Edgar could have been drunk. There's no need to mention if he was. It's a lousy excuse anyway.

In a way but I would rather have a lot of shows including some shitty ones. Besides I have direct TV. We tried Charter cable TV and it sucked.
But I do admit to watching some shows an then after wonder why the hell I did.

I can't stand listening to the radio at home. In the car is OK because I'm right there ready to turn the station. And I haven't burned a CD in years. When I do listen to music sometimes I actually use Direct TV. They have a buttload of different types of music channels and no BUTLERS GOT YER TRUCK!!.
But mostly I listen to music in my shop through Youtube on a tablet. And I play it through a Bluetooth speaker.
Or I make my own music and with enough beer it's not so bad Big Grin
