I thought this was kind of interesting and I wonder what right wingers will think about it. My first thought was DUH California is the most populated state in the USA.
And when I checked Florida and Texas are the next in order of the most populated. Sheeshe talk about some worthless news. Blink

California.. 40 million
Florida      21 million

The NRA likes to point to Calif. because they have the strictest anti gun laws. Don't recall them ever pointing out this population comparison.  Wink

Here is a gun violence site I just posted on the other thread. It fits more appropriately here.

I'll posy my comment again because I think a lot of people don't read all the Trump threads. Smiling

Yes a gun violence site that like I said on the other thread is misleading as far as what most of us think when we hear the term "mass shooting.

So NOW a mass shooting is when four or more victims are injured?

I wonder WHO it is who gets to define a mass shooting?

That was the Nov 3 shooting the next on on the list was gang related and again zero deaths.

My point is there is a difference in a gang shooting or some gunfight over a drug deal than these CRAZY people like this ex soldier.

People don't feel safe because of mass shootings. But how many on this list are gang or drug related and occurred in high crime areas when VERY few Americans live?

So is this list supposed to exaggerate the number on incidents where some crazy shoots people randomly?

My answer is absolutely.

I don't think California has the strictest gun laws.
Back east it's impossible to own a gun.

Very true.

Do you have any ideas as to what MAY help? Even just a little? Thoughts and prayers have not helped and as far as I can tell they are all that's been offered as a solution. No easy answers, that's for sure.....

Sadly, there isn't any single "answer" to put an end to these things.  In this particular case, his PTSD should have been taken more seriously, as all mental health issues need to be addressed with more vigor.  I heard on the radio this morning from the VA that, unfortunately, very few of the Vets affected ever go to the VA for treatment.  That could be because of the VA's reputation ie: waiting times etc., or it could be that they just don't realize how bad off they are until bad things happen.

Obviously no one involved in this case deserved what happened, but thoughts and prayers are just about all most of us have to offer.

This doesn't help, but it's just me thinking. I feel like mass shootings are the real zombie apocalypse. It seems like like a virus that just keeps spreading.  It accomplishes nothing.

There's no uniting theme behind it.  No cause. On the news they used to make a big deal about not naming the shooter so that the shooter didn't get notoriety, thus reinforcing this idea to future shooters, but that really doesn't seem to be the case anymore.  There are so many, you just become numb to it all. I have no idea who the shooter as in this case or the last or the last...the last one I know of is the Las Vegas one. That one got a lot of press.  But it seems irrelevant who the shooter is.  It feels like something else. It's more of a deep sickness in society and in the world and it seems to be spreading. I feel like it's completely irrelevant if people arm or don't arm themselves. If weapons are or are not easily available. To me, making guns harder to get is like drawing a smiley face on a rabid dog.   Maybe some people feel like gun control is more akin to putting a muzzle on a rabid dog, but ultimately, in the end, it doesn't matter. The dog is still rabid.  But you just don't know it. It's still sick. It's still dangerous. It's still there.  I'm not sure muzzling it will protect us in the end.

OK.  Roll  your eyes. Just seems weird to me. I understand it's a sort of ironic meme but it's still weird to me.

I think it's supposed to show some concern and be cute at the same time. But I think it comes across as making lite of the situation.

I agree, there was actually some good dialog happening in this thread,  I really liked Juniper's post, and also agreed with SD, then comes along Scrap with this stupidity. Wrong time and place to interject a stupid meme then double down and make it about Trump, ffs.

Well, I don't know if I felt it was stupidity, but there was this feeling to it, (for me) that I was supposed to 'get it' somehow and I didn't and it felt kind of trite. Tonedeaf to the rest of the thread.

Then the Trump explanation was thrown in, and I got more confused and had to check what thread I was in! Laughing Laughing Big Grin
