from local paper article:
Following up on that,Brown wrote to Pence, describing what the state is doing to combat the spread amid three confirmed cases, and what its needs are. She asked for increased flexibility on criteria for testing forthe COVID-19 virus “to better assess the burden of the disease in Oregon resulting from community spread with-in the state.”She expressed worry that rural hospitals and health centers could be over-whelmed if the cases spread around the state.
Honestly, this unwillingness to test and states having to beg for the right to test, is complete and utter bullshit.
If someone wants to walk into urgent care right now with any of the symptoms and want the test, people should be able to get the damn test (unless of course the government is actively trying to keep the scope of spread under wraps, it's the economy stupid)
Edit: and also this little gem:
Oregon may now have 300 to 500 Oregonians who are or were unknowingly carrying the coronavirus, DeanSidelinger, a health officer and epidemiologist with the Oregon Health Authority, told reporters Monday.
