Hope this plays for folks. I don't know how to show it without a FB link. The police officer dog doesn't release and makes a meal of it.

Looks like that dog needs some more training. So what happens with this dog? Is it put down? Is it retired, because it seems like a liability if it was retired.

You think the dog handler played tug of war with his dog after hours?

Looks like that dog needs some more training. So what happens with this dog? Is it put down? Is it retired, because it seems like a liability if it was retired. Those dogs are normally not any kind of liability a all. They are not really aggressive. It's all a game that was taught to them. If you notice many of them have a toy that they get after they do their job. They don't love hurting people they love playing the game.
So when they are at home or anywhere not on duty they are regular dogs children play with and strangers can pet etc.
For some reason the dogs they use for this are or act extremely high strung. They whine and make noises in the car when they know they are about to be in a chase.
They often bark excessively and pull against their owner because they are just ultra excited. My cane corso can get exactly like that when she is super excited. And she obsesses over a toy like they do. I think she would have been easy to train just like the police dogs. German shepherds Belgian Malonios etc. But I think we will never see a cane corso police dog because their bite force is 700 pounds per sq in. The third highest of all dogs. A German shepherd is 238 pounds.
