Ok so your saying that his letters do the same thing ? They slap fledglings ? How do you compare Peter's version of the Teaching ? How about John's ? Were they all out to snuff fledglings hopes ?

I don't think anyone was out to sap fledgling Christians. What I think is that what Paul was teaching didn't really match what Jesus was teaching, and a great deal of the Church was based on teachings of Paul. Whether or not it be the Catholic or some other.

For instance ? Women having their heads covered , women being saved through childbirth. That's about all I can come up with that would really ruffel your feathers. Well let me guess , its all about gender roles right ?

I'm pretty sure the founders knew what was going to happen towards the end of their lives , the same way the founders of the US did. The Catholic church as it is comes from an empire built by the Medicis and folks like them. Then there is Constantine . Once Christianity got into Nationalist's hands, the days of miracles and healing were for the most part done except in far off regions. It goes without saying that even the Jews from the early church intermarried and moved to the outer boundaries of the empire. The house of Cornelius has a significant presence in shipping nations like Holland and thus America. Paul's teachings were useful to the gentiles who converted and had to deal with pagan practices . OR they could simply incorporate old pagan ways into a Gentile Christianity. They didn't have reliable translations of scripture in them days. The Vulgate was pretty twisted. The bottom line is lack of vital information was really quite limiting.

I think your talking more about how I feel which is Christianity through Mid eastern eyes. Eyes that could read Hebrew and Aramaic. Eyes that grasp the ancient's tongues and glyphs. As well as the humanity and family of Jesus. The roots of the teaching were lost not do to Paul but due to the nations who incorporated them into their rule. Jesus and Mary had to become fully deified in order to be represented by earthly kings much like Pharaoh. Babylon sucking the life out of it all. Look now Tia most folks aren't even interested in real root Christianity. The only language they understand is Machiavellian ergo Paul's letters usefulness. People are more interested in enslaving and begin enslaved. BDSM baby. Pain feels gooood.

No. But I'm interested in seeing it. I think I'll wait for DVD as it's mostly a character study.

Also interested in Green Zone. Rotten Tomatoes gives it only a so-so rating, but most say that Matt Damon does a good job in that he holds back a bit and does not try to be some kind of big military Rambo. And it's a talkie.

It has the advantage of being Anti-American Military. You will probably love it.

I for one am not ANTI military. I just don't view the same way as many do. I see it as a necessary function. I think a debt is owed to all who serve in the Military. Does that mean I blindly agree with all military endeavors? (and that's a neutral way to word it) No, I absolutely do not. Where does this perception come from?

Watched 'The Fourth Kind' last night, a pseudo-documentary about alien abductions with Milla Jovavich. Well-- it was better then 'Where the Wild Things Are' (but that wouldn't be difficult). It was not that scary (and thats even with my hubby trying to hype my poor gullible self up).

I can't wait to get my hands on 'The Fantastic Mr. Fox' tonight Smiling

Being anti-the-current-situation-in-Iraq does not make one anti-military. If that were the case, my mom, a retired colonel would be considered anti-military. I am amazingly proud of her service and thanks to growing up in and around military personal I consider them, the people who have chosen to dedicate themselves and their lives, to this country as a very valuable resource. I just happen to think that we need to use that resource wisely and to make sure that before we send in our troops- offering up their lives- we need to make sure the situation is clear and necessary.

Ya know, I just don't deserve that kind of characterization.
You have no reason to believe I'm anti-military. I'm not. Never have been. I Served my four years without complaint, and followed all military customs and regulations completely. I left the service of my country with an Honorable discharge and some chest lettuce.

I have in the past expressed negative opinions about our early involvement in Iraq. Since then, the reading I've done more or less supports those opinions. I'm also disappointed in our involvement in Afghanistan and regret the lives and treasure being lost there. Nothing anti-military about that. That criticism is directed at policy decisions by civilian leadership.

The reviews I've read about the movie center mostly on Matt Damion's performance saying he found the line between over playing the part to "take over" the move, and letting the story be the center of attraction. I know the movie is about troops detailed to find WMD's, and the problems they had in finding them. That seems to be a story line lifted from the news we got from journalists who reported it. The fact remains that what we were told did not prove to be true. (Complicated, that: Perhaps our leaders too were given the same bad information...as yet we are not sure beyond a doubt).

But, I'm not that guy you paint. Never was. Never will be. And in this instance you are just wrong. More than that, you had no good reason to even make the comment. So, more than just wrong, you are too aggressive in your expression and it represents a problem we have on this forum.

I hope you will not do it again with regard to me, or the things you suspect I might endorse.

Really?
They have glasses for people with 3 eyes?

Still, thanks for the report. Usually we comment AFTER, but hey, whatever makes you sweat.

"Aggressive" paints exactly the mode I am in and will continue in. "Passive" gives too much away. We as a country have lost too much already, and I will be damned if I am going to "go quiet into the goodnight" for the PROGRESSIVE/SOCIALIST element that has permeated the Democratic party. You have SELF proclaimed being "progressive", so that puts you into the fringe FAR left.

I know a LOT of Democrats that are not socialists. I know a lot of Republicans that are not anarchists. My feelings are that the majority of the common "folks" that consider themselves by either party are mostly near the center of it all. As much as cletus and bbq claim that all conservatives are "teabagger radicals" in search of blood and marginalized by Limbaugh and Hannity and such, I can claim that YOUR party is so corrupted by the far left, in fact they have seized the actual POWER, that the rest of us "people" have good reason to fear the loss of all that founded this Country.

I know you disagree. Too bad.

That's the one I wanna see! I keep checking to see if it's in Ashland yet.

Wonk, how come you think it will be better on DVD? Sometimes the big screen enhances a movie. Not so in this case, you think?

OK Larry let me see if I understand this. Wonky is "fringe FAR left" in your opinion because he said he was "progressive".

You decided this because of one word he used to describe himself and NOT from months or years of reading his posts?

WOW!
