Why? I know when the plants are tiny birds can be a problem but after that I think they are beneficial, eating bugs.
I used to have a lot of those damn cucumber beetles and I would actually put a bird bath thing right in the garden.
I've had flocks of birds, hundreds!! land in the trees and then fly down in squadrons over and over to get water.
PS I had to look up "edamame" , good to know it's food, I though maybe you had a disease
Yes...it's a food. Never grown them before.
The birds eat my tomatoes!! We have chickens (not in the garden) and they keep the beetle population, in general, at bay.
Wow , what kind of birds eat tomatoes?
Crows for sure, but I think a lot of birds will peck at tomatoes. I'm surprised you haven't had a problem with them.
There aren't too many Crows here and never seem to land around my place. It's funny I can't remember ever even seeing one land here? I guess it's the same as all of the hawks around here.Crows are really smart I think they are afraid to land so close to my house.
I can't remember ever having any birds pecking at my tomatoes. I have mostly sparrows, finches, doves, brewers black birds, starlings, robins, red wing blackbirds little canaries , swallows.
This year there are two new collared doves, they are non native and might displace the morning doves. So I probably will shoot them. Also there are a few grackles this year and normally I might only see one.
