Yup, we planted some Early Girls, also wanted to plant a 4th of July, but never found any.
I've never liked beefsteaks. The seem to grow all funky with cracks and whatever.Big isn't always better Cletus, your wife must know that
The Medford VF's are awesome. I think that's the one that will amaze you with a ton of tennis ball size tomatoes on a relatively small plant. And they taste perfect.
My wife said bigger is better. I think she was referring to my bank account balance. I know she likes me more when I actually have a bank account.
And Big Beef tomatoes don't grow funky. Maybe you meant Brandywine tomatoes. I planted a couple Better Boys. So, although I planted mostly 76 to 80 day varieties, I have a few others. I sometimes buy 1 plant that is in a gallon pot to get a few tomatoes early.
I think it's the beefsteaks that grow funky.
I planted a Brandywine one year and it grew and grew and grew until it was the biggest Tomato plant I've ever had. It had branches that were bigger than most pf my other plants.
Anyway I didn't think that stupid thing would EVER put on tomatoes and when it finally did it was too cold.
I guess you have to plant them in February or something
